Subject: Highway ecosystem

Hi there...Need Help.

I'm using the Highway ecosystem and want to know how to change the direction of the cars and the road so that they point in the Y axis as apposed to always pointing in the X axis. Basically I want to be able to rotate 90*.

Thanks, Ivan.

Ok, back to our cg talk conversation, lol! Of course I meant " x" when I said " w",  sorry!

The rotation parameters can be found in the lighting & effects tab of the advanced material editor. First you need to double click the underlying material of your ecosystem, you'll find 2 materials, one checkerboard, and some other mat I don't remember. Go to the lighting and effects tab of the checkerboard material, and you'll see "rotation and twist" checked. Edit this parameter with x and y axis set to 90°, and z axis to zero.

Hey Bruno...your a champion!!!..I new you meant  X...Fancy seeing you hear..I.ve been going back and forth between the two forums hoping for an answer....

Ok..double clicked on the "underlying Material" (picture of road)..you then get material-1 picture of road, material-2 grey bumpy cylinder (chimney dirty)...I double clicked on material 1 to find its CALLED checkerboard...Oh!!..ok changed the rotation bit...NOTHING....repopulated no change...Did you actually get it to work?..the image changes direction in the material 1 preview..thats it...what have i missed?

Ivan.

 Ok Im back....

I worked out how to turn the cars 90* ...edit the variable density function..click on the middle filter node (Offset(X+a)) and make the offset "0" it turns the cars to the left 90*..If you put a 2 in the offset field it turns the cars to the right 90*...WOOOHOOO...Now for the checkerboard texture!

Cool! About the checkerboard rotation, I just have another go, it's even easier: just put the z axis rotation to zero, and your  road will be aligned to the cars.

Hey Bruno...After all that messing around to get things to rotate, I found a very simple solution...Create a road using a plain in the X direction as per normal size it up etc..Place the Highway eco on it etc..once happy with the result..Rotate the whole plain 90* to face Y and everything stays exactly where it needs to...only one problem, you cant repopulate, otherwise everything faces X again....I'll try your suggestion just to see how it works.

Thanks Bruno..
