General RSS Info;

http://www.xml.com/pub/a/2002/12/18/dive-into-xml.html

RSS Reader;

"This free program is for reading RSS newsfeeds. It collects news in the background at user-configurable intervals and warns you with a small pop-up in the system tray when a new message has arrived. You can click the headline to see a short description and then open the original Web page in an RssReader browser or default browser window. RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a format for indicating news"

Download RSSReader 1.0.88

-There are a lot of programs that will do RSS reading (my mozilla thunderbird will do it), search www.download.com for more RSS Readers.

Basically, if you want news on your desktop, the minute it is published on a website, you would use RSS. MANY sites have this, especially news-based ones.

I use my "My Yahoo!" page to read RSS feeds.  I only bothered to set it up because R'osity was going to be offering RSS feeds -- I am hoping soon to get feeds from my favorite R'osity forums, but that may be a pipe-dream...

as it is, I've read more R'osity front-page news articles in the past few weeks testing the RSS than I ever have in my previous years here!

RSS is an XML standard for medium-independant digital content transfer. It delivers easy to transfer articles, links, locations of images or media files etc regardless of operating system or medium (computers, palmtops, television playout systems, mobile phones, they can all use one and the same XML feed). RSS is most often used for news feeds. Because the RSS itself actually truely only transfers content and no markup information, it is easy to integrate into any given digital system.

Because it supplies u with the hottest 3d news instantly? ah that is ofcourse assuming 'rosity would supply us with 'the hottest 3d news'...

The technology behind RSS feeds is actually usefull for 3d modelling also. The XML technology that RSS is based on is also used for some 3d formats and I wouldn't be surprised if it will be used to one day produce a general easy to implement 3d file format which would allow us to transfer 3d data between any 3d program easily and effectively. Could potentially be very usefull! plus developers couldn't give us bullshit like that its so difficult to import files from other programs anymore 😉 Imagine bryce files that no longer make the people that try to unravel their syntax go insane and disappear never to be heard of again! :biggrin:
