OK here it is - taken my snap for you to muse on.

And every one said, 'If we only live,
We too will go to sea in a Sieve,---
To the hills of the Chankly Bore!'
Far and few, far and few, Are the lands where the Jumblies live;
Their heads are green, and their hands are blue, And they went to sea in a Sieve.

inshaala ( ) posted Tue, 12 September 2006 at 4:22 PM

its looking through a lens with both caps removed from the front (probs a large focal distance zoom lens).  Taken probably with a canon camera (explains the reflection)

Is it a mini camera, like a hidden CCTV camera? Either that or is it the laser part of a CD player?

Nope sorry Kim - good try

Well spotted the word Canon - Nope sorry Jim - good tries.

Nope sorry Richard - God try and working out it was taken with a Canon camera .

Nope sorry Angus - good tries

Clue it is not a specialist item, everyone has used one of these, nothing to do with photography.

urbanarmitage ( ) posted Wed, 13 September 2006 at 2:06 AM

Is it the top of a spray can with the little plastic thing on top that makes the contents spray missing?

Or maybe a car or truck headlight?

Wayne.

Yayyyyyyyyyy huge congrats to Pat !

Exactly right. It is a torch/flashlight viewed looking directly into the reflector.

I'll post a pic from a different angle when I get home soyou can see th whole torch.

I've never heard them called torches before. It's fun to see the differences in language. My favorite is "being pissed"... drunk in Australia, or mad in USA.

file_354080.jpg

Yep fuzzy it does lend to some confusion at times - here in the UK this is a torch. I put /flashlight because I believe that is the name in US. Not sure if you were meaning this or a camera flash bulb in your answer.

I didn't know about 'pissed' though, here it is drunk.
