RR seemed especially slow today...I'm glad they are asking our opinion on this.I hope something can be done.It can be rather infuriating, especially when trying to leave a comment. :^(

I really appreciate RR asking us our view about the speed of the site! I'm sure with all the changes that have been made recently there's still some things to iron out. Something I have noticed is that, for me, the site seems to slow down when there are more than about 1300 "currently online",

OMG!!! I just figured out why RR is sooo slooooww! Its because the gallery images get resized then people "click to view full" ( unless they have set their preference otherwise). Thing like this use up more bandwidth and slow things down.

Question the question. Answer the question. Question the answer...

I wish I knew what I was gonna say :oP

Great idea for Bondware to poll the 'rosity members on this issue..I assume it is Bondware since they are the basis of the whole thing.    Thanks for the heads up on this, Danny.

TwoPynts ( ) posted Tue, 12 September 2006 at 8:18 AM

That is one reason for the speed drain, yes. From the last look, it appears that RR is considered a wee bit on the slow side. :)

I pity those 1.4% that consider RR to be one of the faster sites around....they need to do some more browsing, LOL. These last two days have been horrible!!!!!! It took me like 3 minutes to just get to this thread and i´m on a 8mb connection. I think my choice for this poll was quite obvious. LOL. Thanks for letting us know about this one Danny. 😄

How come we say 'It's colder than hell outside' when isn't it realistically always colder than hell since hell is supposed to be fire and brimstone?

I've been trying to establish if there is a problem in the network to the RR site. I gathered various traceroute stats and all I can prove up to now is that the problem does not seem to be between me and the 19th node returning trace stats. From the 19th node (somewhere beyond Nashville) I am not getting any stats. 😕

The International links (from South Africa) are to be blamed sometimes and therefore I do keep regular checks to aid our ISP to discover bad links.

It should be evident that I am also frustrated a bit, thanks for the opportunity to vote on the matter. It does not solve the problem (yet) but it makes me feel a lot better. 😉

Thank you Danny for this thread. The last few day on RR have been terribly slow. It is so difficult to comment on other works. I hope this problem can be resolved soon. Diane.

Well but I want to see the positive side of this slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww problem : I upload the shot of Giancarlo, and had the time to prepare me an Expresso coffee, and came for upload mine ;o))))) Well, I just hope this problem will be result one day ! When we miss time and when it's so slow.... well, better to do something else. But thank you to have gave us the opportunity to say what we think Danny ! Hugs my friend. Nathalie

I'm on a 30mb T1 conection and it's still painfully slow.  It was better before the upgrade, or should we call that down grade.

Ok, I'm working through my mails which have stacked up since I moved, so just come across this.....

I think they need to take location into consideration - I'm on a similar connection speed in the UK as I was in the states and the difference is SO noticeable.  Over there it really was a lot faster - and it's running here at about the same speed as before I went stateside, so it's not a temporary speed issue.  Which really bugs the hell outta me, coz in my experience so far British communications companies kick ass compared to the clowns in the states.  How on earth it takes over 3 weeks for a company to decide if it can or can't supply a service is well out of my belief.  A certain company over there (who'se actual service must be dead coz only the spirit is left) has 2 systems, one of which claims service IS available, the other claims it isn't - the local engineer says it DEFINATELY isn't, but the automated system called to say it is set up and is billing for it...... and no, it doesn't work.  Grrr.

Sorry for the rant, it's really got my goat not being able to get anything done over there..... something when you have to travel 5000 miles for internet access......lol
