Hey everyone, if you've noticed i haven't posted in like forever, it's because i've been rather busy. busy designing, what else, an art website. so i've got it all planned out, but now i'm stuck:

how do i host it? the hosting services i've looked at all have upload limits that are way below what i need to showcase even half my work.

how do i sell stuff? i can't seem to find any instructions for registering with credit card companies for paying online and stuff.

for those of you with websites of your own, i'd appreciate some tips on how to get started.
Thanks!

I use a company called MD Webhosting (in Australia)

http://www.mdwebhosting.com.au/webhosting/

Check out what I get for my AUD $9.90/month...

Who? Me?

My web site is hosted by a free web hoster.
I upload images to imageshack, and use it for image hosting and bandwidth. There is a lot of advertising, but it is possible to avoid it by putting a link and a credit to imageshack in your site andso you can link directly to your images. When i have some spare time to rewrite the program to create gallery using imageshack without advertising.
There is no limits to host, except that each image have to be <1500KBytes

At this moment my website is this:

Hope this helps
Dario

Kid_Fisto, I  may offer you that service. Hosting and domain register (optional) would cost you 300 €/ year and you would have a space of 2Gb. About selling your pictures you can do it with PayPal services that is free.

Best regards

Elizabeth

Hello, have a look here, they are good (hosting our sites for three years without probs) and look at the cost, doesn't that make you laugh? Evie

a little small on the space but maybe not...the site i've got planned is rather large and i was planning on scaling it down bigtime anyway.
thanks!

Have you ever thought of putting thumbnails of your art instead of the full-sized image?  That might help as far as finding a manageable web host.
