Well, mine is just composed of my initials.
I've got another username "yeah42" on another site. That one is derived from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, where the number 42 is revealed to be the answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and everything. The "yeah" in front: "yeah right." After all, I'm not the answer - I'm not even 42 (I'm 40).

*** * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ** *I got Bobby[pro bobby star] way back in the early '70's when I was burning and painting art on leather for vests and skirts for these two beautiful hippy leatherworker girls I knew back then. I had to sign my work and my ground ID was too long to write with a wood burner every time, so in the spirit of the art community at that time I designed a sygil[sp?] combining the B and the most common graphic element in my work[5 pointed stars] back then. Had a cloud been as easy to do each time accurately I might well have been Bobby Cloud as I did a lot of clouds as well...LOL...not so good for the music part of my life but arty for sure. Generally my sig is a word and a picture but for here I started spelling it with a pirate twist, to wit: st-argh would be an accurate audio translation.

Before I create a user name I think about it for awhile. I figure it's going to be with me for a long time and I want something that reflects who I am. Plus it has to have certain criteria:The name "Acadia" comes from an important snippet of Canadian history involving French Candadiens and it sounds like a girl's name. So that's how I ended up with "Acadia".
The only problem is that people tend to stick an "R" in there to make it ARcadia.

Mine is simply taken from a poem I wrote in memory of my late husband... Blue Echo (the first verse) Silently, sadly, I call, call out the whole nightlong, Calling, repeating, over, and over, the same sad refrain; Listen--it’s so blue--this sound, the echo of this song, A singsong chant, a plea, as I call your name, all in vain; (the closing verses) For one heartbreaking night, Death came suddenly, to take you away, Had he hoped to silence the words, words that used to thrill me so; Those beautiful, beautiful words you whispered in my ear every day, Deep, deep in my heart, I hear them still, and always will, I know; And yet, somehow, even as they give me such joy, such gladness, Those wonderful, beautiful words, Darling, I love you, love you; Also rend, yes, they tear at my heart, causing an aching sadness, As they replay, repeat, like an echo, a blue echo, an echo in blue:
Let me introduce you to my multiple personalities. :)

i chose billy as a nick cos i don't like my real name which is hubert throgmorton the fourth. the numbers were randomly chosen from the numbers 4, 2 and 3....i was going to use 342 but if i did they wouldn't have been random. apart from another nick i once had....(suckemdry)...when i was a baby, it's the only nick i've ever used....some people will also know me as flatulentlyyors and gangbangbitchfromrikersiland along with idontwearstoreboughtshoescosmommahassomecardboard and whoismichealmoore but i don't count them unless it's the police asking the questions.

I've had mine since about '96, and have used it consistently. Probably more people know me by Mahray than my real name :/
Edit - if you want to know my name, you'll have to visit me in RenderGods :)
Come visit us at RenderGods.
Ignore the shooty dog thing.
My Online name was BloodLuna, I thought that CrimsonMoon was a kinder, gentler version! LOL! I am a bit of an oddball....take a look at my homepage for those who dare see the real me! I think my nic in real life is a bit mundane for the Fantasy World of the internet, it's Rusti, yeah not so exciting. But when you be a redhead, you hear it all!

Mine comes from the name I was using to record under. Since I was making Dance/Trance/ Chillout music and artists like Altern8 were around at the time (seems everyone was using 8 in their name, think Alien8 was another.) I thought I need something Spacey so Star4mation was born. After all they say less is more and there were far too many 8's around. Now I use Star4mation on everything everywhere I go :)
The CD I produced. (No Aliens?) was a smash hit and highly acclaimed by all who heard it! (thanks Rob, Theo, and Hester) LOL
Steve:)
If it ain't free, I can't afford it.
Quote - All us here at Rendo are BORING! We are not original at all. Sorry we don't have exciting stories to tell about our usernames. Our excitement comes from working here!!!!
Well now... perhaps the origins of your user names are easy to deduce, but I don't think that makes you boring. I bet you've got some interesting tales to tell, hmm?
Not that I'm prying, I certainly don't want to reveal all of my "interesting" stories.

I just threw a bunch of letters in an empty can which used to contain Campbell's Alphabet Soup - ironically - and picked a few of them out at random.
That came out as "Hijwsiod", which didn't really do it for me, so I tried again, and came up with what I have now.
Astoshiningly, it was pretty similar to my real name, so I figured it was fate or destiny or something, so I went with it.
Mine comes from the name of the first character I ever made for an MMORPG. It was for The Realm by Sierra waaaaay back in the day of '98. Wherever I go, I use it b/c I'm too lazy to make up new names. This one took me hours back then. No need to go through it all again when I've already got one! =D

Where did your user name (or names, as the case may be) come from? What inspired you to use the name you did? Did you choose your real name or part of it, some fantasy creation, or something in between? Do you use a special name at R'osity that you use nowhere else?
I've got two (kind of). My registered user name, jevans69, comes mostly from my first initial and last name. The number came about as I was registering long ago at some other web site. The name "jevans" was taken, and the form suggested I add a number to the end. At that moment, on the TV in the background, the movie "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure" was playing. As I was getting ready to re-enter the name, the characters on the screen uttered the phrase, "Sixty nine, dude!" when asked for a number. Assuming it was Kismet, I came up with "jevans69" and subsequently used it for several different web sites.
Had I thought ahead and realized I was going to actually be posting and not just lurking I would have used my preferred nickname, "Captain Jack". This nickname was given to me in high school by my drama coach. One Saturday morning, while helping to build sets for the school play, I was sawing wood in the prop room. Feeling like drawing attention to myself (a lifelong habit) I donned a Roman soldier's costume, complete with sword and shield, before I carried the wood out. Without missing a beat, my drama coach stood at attention, slapped a fist to his chest, and called out, "Ave Imperator! All hail Captain Jack!". From that point forward, the name stuck. I've since found it used as a nickname in other well known places, which is always fun. Just remember, I'm the original, not Johnny Depp.
So, where'd your name come from?
Captain Jack
