Subject: copying new morph to the other side

haloedrain ( ) posted Sat, 28 October 2006 at 9:19 PM · edited Thu, 30 January 2025 at 5:13 PM

I'm relatively new to poser, just started using the free version of Poser 5 that content paradise gave away a couple days ago.  Very first thing I decided to do was make conforming clothing, of course, because that's the easiest thing to do in the program, right?   Yeeeahh...never been one for common sense, me ;)

Anyway, it's going well, there was just a teeensy tiny spot where the leg poked through and I figured out how to use the magnets to fix it because I was too lazy to go fix it with my 3d editor and start all over setting up the joints.  I turned it into a morph target, and now I've got a morph target on one side but I need to get copy it over to the other leg.  Is this possible?  Or do I have to get another magnet and do the same thing over there?

I would also like to know if it is possible to in essence freeze the morph target--it doesn't really need to be a morph, I want it set at 1 always.  I figured I could set upper and lower limits to one, but it would make more sense to just get rid of the dial entirely but keep the change the magnet made.  Does that make sense?

I can not answer your question but I'm sure someone will...

I just came in to say hello and that I like you Graduation cap...   (Unless it is a huge yamaca, and then I am sorry)  Otherwise, I like to ask is the cap a morph and could you put it in a rar file and send it....

Welcome to the funny house.....

Tom

Attached Link: Morph Mirror

I think the attached link will suit your needs, tell Ockham I said hello!

Magnet Cloner.py, by Bushi, would have headed your problem off at the Magnet stage.  Once you finished with a magnet on one side of a figure it would then create a symetric magnet on the other side, of your figure.  I just looked for his Free Stuff, and the thread I was told about it in, but ca'nt find either.  It's been around for a while though...ask and ye shall recieve.

Thanks you guys!  That morph mirror thing is really cool!  It seems silly that there isn't an easy way to duplicate a magnet for the other side without a script....

amacord, when you say "apply the magnet" do you mean position it, turn it into a morph, something else?  What I want is to get rid of the morphs and the magnets entirely and just have a modified mesh, if I save it after positioning the magnets I get magnets in the library too and if I apply it as a morph it gets saved as a morph.  Oh!   Or do you mean export the mesh?  I'd rather not do that, then I have to set up all the joints again, which is why I didn't want to use my 3d modeler to fix it in the first place.  It's not really a problem if it can't do what I want, I was just curious :)

Oh, and tom, it's a scarf, not a graduation cap, but I do have one of those around here somewhere.  Problem is it's backed up in cardboard and cloth format and I can't get any of my disk drives to read it ;)

amacord ( ) posted Sun, 29 October 2006 at 12:02 PM

yep, the export thing! why are you worried about joints and stuff? just name that thing as blablaX.obj instead of blabla.obj and change that name in your cr2 accordingly (text-editor...don't forget: 2 times!). save the cr2 under a different name as well. let's say, 20 clicks all in all - you won't get it cheaper;) A.

haloedrain ( ) posted Sun, 29 October 2006 at 12:07 PM

Oh!  I didn't even think of changing the cr2!  Thanks!

bingo!

Angelouscuitry ( ) posted Sun, 29 October 2006 at 1:22 PM

Amacord - When Exporting the .OBJ; do we need to have the Universe, ground, etc. checked, or just the Figure and it's parts?

Also, what settings do you recommend exporting the .obj with, default, or are "As Morph Target," etc., etc., importatnt?

amacord ( ) posted Sun, 29 October 2006 at 2:03 PM

@Angelouscuitry export just the figure. for this i would check the "include existing groups"-option only. if you are in doubt, let poser do the job. select the figure, open the grouping tool, create a new group (no matter which bodypart), delete this new group. in theory the geometry is unchanged, but when you save the figure to librariesfigures poser will write a new *.obj next to the cr2. quite useful sometimes. @ haloedrain but this object file is unmorphed, so you cannot use this (latter) method for what you need.
