On Sunday there is a fund raiser event for local cancer institutes, Buddy's Race Against Cancer 5k.  I like to be in the pack, walking and coming in with the fastest of those.  This year, I cannot compete because of problems in one leg and have to wait results of electrical and muscle tests to see.    Last year, I had to sit out because I had just started bp meds...what life brings us. : )

So, what to do?  I suppose I will just have to take pictures!  That is not a bad thing and should be fun.  Please wish me well on an overcast day to get some good action and personality shots of the event.  Thanks.           TomDart.

Danny, these sort of events have become a part of our lives, for good reason.   This part is a good thing.  Thanks for the well wishes, Jim and Dan.      Tom

Good luck Tom!

May  "covering" the event from this angle give you joy and us the chance to look at the results.

What a noble cause, which I only realize now that the big C has visited my daughter in law too.

I got a bunch of shots and have yet to process those. Lighting was bad and when the sun came it was behind the runners at the start and the finish!  Still, in a few days I will try to pull the best one and make a thread of those.

There are places to sign large boards in memory of those fallen  and in recognition of the living. This is on one of the boards..today.           TomDart.

Seeing my daughter in law being mentioned was a real comfort and very kind of you.
Good luck to the other people being mentioned!

I hope it went well Tom. That is a noble event, and any participation you give is worth it.
I remember it well last year too.

Here is one image from the race. Lighting was not a consideration of the race..sun behind the start line and behind the finish line! So, here is the start. I was almost run over on the sidewalk.

I will put together the better shots for showing later.  There are some neat closeups to see, I believe they will be.      All comments appreciated!  Tom.

A great way to start the race. I love the expression of the fella on the left. Looking forward to more!

Thanks for showing Tom, it is evident that a lot of enthusiasm and energy went into this!

Good luck, I hope to see more photos soon.

Tom, Piet and Dianthus and all who are touched by this horrible darkness.

I know how you all feel. After my 2 brothers and I battled Kidney disease for 10 years and things finally settled down with transplants (older brother and I)and medications for all three we were told that my dad had pancreatic cancer at 58 years old.

He passed away 6 months later.

My 3 year old neice was innocently asked by a friend (who had been away and didn't know) where her granddad had gone. she replied that God needed another angel!

Love the pics Tom. Keep up the good work. You are a champion whether you ran or not, it is the support and enthusiasm that keeps the mind positive to battle on. The most important thing I was told by my hubby is not to be afraid to CRY!

Piet sorry to hear this ill news, I'm still trawling throught my inbox, I saw this and your email to which I will reply better later. ) But I do wish your daughter in law all the strength she needs and I hope that you and your family will take heart in all our thoughts for you in this hard time, drop me a line if you need to talk.
 Your Aussie friend Jenny
