Attached Link: Adding Materials, rather than Resetting, by Insertion
Here's a link, of mine, to the Python Scripting forum. Thanks folks!
The solution I came up with is exactly what I wanted...
Create a second skin using 2ndskin.exe
paint your image over the body template.
delete body in favor of white background.
Save
Reverse (make negative) image.
Save
In material room, load image 1 as texture and image 2 as transparancy.
(Now, why was there nothing ANYWHERE that told me how to do this???? ROFLMAO!!!!!
Thanks again!
Doug
Here it is, step by step:
Using 2ndskin.exe (available here at Renderosity) I created a second skin with transparency set to "1".
Load Michael.
Load Second Skin
Conform 2nd Skin to Michael.
Create body art as a black on white (or whatever on white) image painted over the body template. (This is my Body texture on the screen shot).
Turn it negative and save it as the transparency image.
In the material room, apply as shown above... White bg image to "Difuse Color", black bg image to "Transparency," both set to 100%.
Render
Magically, the body art appears!
Happy rendering!
Doug
if i understand it right, using 2ndskin.exe makes additional geometry. basicaly an all over conforming bodysuit that you apply your texture to.
you can do this

without the additional geometry.

 Ough; bright light, bright light...ough bright light!
 ..Argh...ca'nt...understand...the..Simple..Material...Room..."Eh..."(Falls to floor dead.)
I'm so sorry! Thank you so much for that screenshot; I'm sure many people are enjoying it profusely, but way back when I first looked at the Material Room, the difference between the Simple and Advanced modes meant absolutely nothing to me. So; I then decided to always use the advanced mode, just because its the "Advanced" mode... ; ) and ever looked back..
I hate to ask this again, but would you, pretty please, just click that Advanced tab(Next to the Simple one.)Â and post again, if there is loads of sugar, whipped cream, and extra Jimmies on top?

Does anyone know where there's a tutorial on second skins? I'm trying to create one that is transparent except for the clothing item so it can be used on any skin texture. All the tut's I've folund are basically about body painting.
Anyone know how to help?
Doug
