Subject: Why is Poser bugging my eyes out?

selkins16 ( ) posted Wed, 08 November 2006 at 7:39 PM · edited Fri, 02 August 2024 at 12:07 AM

I know I saw an explanation about this problem once a long time ago, but I can't find it again. Why o Why is Poser 6 bugging the eyes out of my characters when I pose them and is there a way I can make it stop doing this? I've been fixing them by selecting each eye and then restore, element, but I'm so sick of it, I'm ready to ditch Poser for Daz Studio.

Thank you in advance for advice...
Shelly

There must be some exact thing you are doing to make that happen. what exactly are you doing when it occurs?

I've never read of anyone having this issue at all.

Also what character is this happening on?

Hi Gareee, Thank you for responding. I'm using Aiko, but it happens with any of my figures. I add Aiko to the scene, apply the character Morph and mat (in this case, this is Mulberry by Sarsa and Thorne I believe), pose her and then her eyes bug out... I swear I saw a discussion on this :)

Lemme see if I can attach a pic of the malfunction and hopefully jog someone's memory.

I wonder if a mor pose was missed or an injection was missed in the package?

It happens with any package I use.

Are you using the latest poser sr3 update?

Yes, at least I think... I did get a new computer a couple of weeks ago so I won't swear that I didin't install the update. I will go get it and try again. However, it seems to me that I had this happening even when I was sure I had the update installed.

Thanks Gareee, I do know there were others having the problem and it had something to do with the way a character package was made and involved changing the CR2 or something like to fix it (something causing the eyes not to pose with the figure). I have searched for the last couple of weeks trying to remember where I read the post. I should have printed it and didn't, then I put Poser down for a while.

I'm wondering if the big eye morph in Aiko is not in version of Aiko you have installed.

I know th efull Aiko version has a "big eye" morph, and that's a combination od using the scaling in the eyes, and ERC control of a morph in the head part.

If that morph is not present, then the eyes will still scale, but th eheadmorph can't be activated.

I'll bet if you post this question in daz's commons forum, you'll get an answer right away.

I have the full version of Aiko that I bought the first day she was released. You're very right, I should have posted this in Daz's forums. I'll run and do that. Thanks so much :)

PS Reinstalling the SR3 update didn't fix the problem

Ive been using A3 alot lately, and its not just you. I usually have to do a little "x-axis" movement and some scaling to put her eyes back into place. Regards, E

This was discussed awhile back at FaerieWylde.

Quoted from Thorne ….

“Mulberry's eyes are "Memorized" in the correct setting for her face morph. All you have to do after applying any pose is to select the eyes individually and use the menu function:

Edit: Restore: Element

This will return the eyes to the correct position, morphs, and scale for the head morph.

Alternately you can simply re-apply the head injection pose and this will do the same thing.”

This bug happens you with all the DAZ3D characters or only with A3 or only with Sarsa/Thorne ones?

The most of Sarsa/Thorne characters base their special look in eyes bigger than the right size. Perhaps you need to re-install your A3

Yes!! Thank you Swamp! That's the info I had read and couldn't find. I know it sounds like its not a big deal, but if you're like me and like to cycle through dozens of poses till you find one that you like, it's a pain because sometimes its like i accumulate a mess and restoring the element doesn't work at all, does nada...

Thanks Casette, but its not my A3, I did carry the topic over to Daz and there are many people that have the same issue. There is one man that doesn't have the issue. He said his runtime is in the default location. It might not be a factor, but my runtime was not in the default location, so.... I am going to try to put it where it belongs (this was a good reason to get it done, because I got a new computer) and just satisfy my curiousity about whether that fixes it.

My Noa doll does this too. Sarsa and Thorne, if you read this... I adore your products, but I would really love it if they didn't do this to me, haha! (it isn't all of them, Sylfie works fine)

I just FDISK'd my HDD and found this happenning.  When I relaoded David, to try the Restore function, I did so from my default Poser 6 Runtime, even though my David scene was created from a sepereate, David runtime.  This time the eyes loaded fine.

Thorne ( ) posted Wed, 22 November 2006 at 12:04 PM

Hi everyone, I just found this thread so I apologize for the delay in replying here.

The reasons this happens are because 1, they are custom head morph targets which require the eyes to be adjusted to accurately fit the new custom face, and 2, because the eye translations get saved when people create poses and almost no one removes these.

The fix is as described above- simply "Edit: Restore: Element" for each eye and they will return to the correct values. You may also apply the INJ pose again which does the same thing.

On all our recent characters and all custom characters we create in the future, we are including an extra "Eyes_FIX" pose to reset the eyes.

Anyone having any problems with our characters may of course always contact either Sarsa or myself using the contact form here or by private message at our forum at http://www.faeriewylde.com and we will always be happy to help you resolve the problem.

Thank you!!
Thorne

hehe i was gonna suggest fixing it manually which i have done so before. a little fix on the eyes usually does it for me  (usually scaling it down a few notches).
