David Niven never played Bond! You're thinking of the Pink Pnather. *[ On Her Majesty's Secret Service](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On_Her_Majesty%27s_Secret_Service_%28film%29 "On Her Majesty's Secret Service (film)")* was that unknown Joker (George Lazenby), who made a once only appearance as Bond, and subsequently disappeared from living memory. The critics almost unanimously said that he filled the roll of Bond the same way that cement fills a hole."To date, six actors have portrayed James Bond in the official series. They are:
I still say that if efrontier has to have a Bond character, then they should at LEAST style it after the One & Only Sean Connery. When I hear the name Bond, he's the one I automatically think of, not The Saint (Roger Moore), not Timothy Dalton, and not Remington Steele (Pierce Brosnan).
Aw well, age is slowly creeping up on me.
Yours truly,

Sorry... but David Niven DID play James Bond in the original Casino Royale...
A film by John Huston, Val Guest, Ken Hughes, Robert Parrish and Joseph McGrath, after the Ian Fleming novels. Music by Burt Bacharach. Avec Peter Sellers (Evelyn Tremble), David Niven (Sir James Bond), Ursula Andress (Vesper Lynd), Orson Welles (Le Chiffre), Joanna Pettet (Mata Bond), Daliah Lavi (The Detainer), Woody Allen (Jimmy Bond), Deborah Kerr (Agent Mimi), William Holden (Ransome, CIA), Charles Boyer (Legrand, Cinquieme Bureau), John Huston (McTarry, M), Kurt Kasznar (Smernov, KGB), George Raft (Himself), Jean-Paul Belmondo (French Legionnaire), Terence Cooper (Cooper). 131 min; score 6/10. Aka: Charles K. Feldman's Casino Royale.

Quote - Personally... I think they should have used Jason Isaacs as the new Bond character...
Currently playing the British diplomat Mark Brydon in The State Within series on BBC1 tv with Sharron Gless... ex Cagney and Lacey.
I can't agree with you more about Jason Isaccs he should have been tapped for the new Bond. As far as I'm concerned the man is outstanding in every moving picture he stars in....even in Harry Potter!

Aw well, seeing as how his Parents are fellow Israeli nationals, I guess he can't be ALL bad; but I'd still prefer Sean Connery -young or old.

into a fruit salad.
I have liked Jason Isaccs since his early days when he first started in tv... especially in Civvies on BBC tv... I thought then he would do well in the future.
He certainly has... with many tv roles and... 62+ film roles.
And... of course... he is a Scouser...! Yaaay.... :thumbupboth:

"You can't shoot me! I have a very low threshold of death. My doctor says I can't have bullets enter my body at any time." Jimmy Bond
I love that scene - but then I like some of Allen's quirky humor (Sleeper can be that at times, but at others it's a riot). This 'Casino Royale' movie was just on over the weekend, but didn't have time to see much of it (work, chores, work).
Jason Isaacs is great, but I think someone of Brosnan's looks but more dynamic, intelligent, something, would be a better choice than Daniel Craig (imoo). Will have to see the movie and make my opinion based upon subjective experiential fact. ;P

My 2 cents.... Daniel Craig is a respectable Bond..... more so than were Roger Lazenby, Roger Moore, or Pierce Brosnan. when I were a young lad, I read the books..... that's where I get my inspiration from.
Another fine actor who would have made a great Bond is Sean Bean (who played a bad guy in a Bond flick therefore acted himself out of the chance). Bean (discounting his brief LOTR), has never turned in a bad performance (check out the Sharpe Series). But Craig will do for now.
Heaven help us if Daniel Radcliffe grows up and wants to be Bond....;-)

I like Sean Bean as well, excellent in the Sharpe series, but don't think he would have suited Bond. Sean Bean is far too... rugged.
And... I say old chap, he has an awefully aweful accent, don't you think..? Not at all suave enough or stereotypically British for Bond.

Agreed totally, ziggie. He is superb as Sharpe, but not of the right cut for 007.

I was hoping for a Clive Owen Bond he's got the style for a younger bond
I 've never seen Daniel Craig before and haven't seen the movie so I can't say anything he looks a bit macho for what I have in mind as a bond character... but then I never liked Roger Moore as bond... :glare:
Liam Neeson would make a very credible Bond.

Actually, the original Casino Royale wasn't made by the usual Bond producers; they couldn't secure the rights to Flemming's novel back in the 60s. The original Casino film is NOT considered a Bond movie. It was a critical and financial flop, plus it didn't have much to do with the book.
The new Casino Royale is great, much better than any of Brosnan's films. (I like Brosnan, but his 4 outings as James Bond were a little too silly.)
You guys should really check out Daniel Craig in Layer Cake and Spielberg's Munich to get an idea of what a great actor he is.
Connery is still the best of course!
And I found reason #7 a little disappointing compared to reasons 1-6, but I'm still getting Poser 7.
Aaaah, Sean Connery....

***Robbie Williams certainly has the looks and suaveness to make a good Bond, but I think he is a little on the young side to play Bond.

Scouser eh? Lot of great talent came out of Liverpool!
If you've seen the movie, you know that Daniel Craig makes a really fine James Bond, but he's certainly different than all the others -- he's the first Bond that swaggers when he walks (hips and shoulders move with each step). He's really more like a British Steve McQueen. Is he the best? I think each Bond (with the exception of Lazenby and Dalton) had or developed their own appealing style. Even Roger Moore had a style that fit his time period pretty well -- c'mon, all you/us boomers looked pretty cheesy in elephant bells and crop tops, too. And Pierce Brosnan, the "prettiest" and most polished of them all, would have been even better had he been able to accept the role ten years earlier but for a contract commitment to CBS. On the other hand, e-Frontier's depiction of its new spy figure that comes as part of Poser 7 content looks like more like Don Knotts than any other spy I've seen. Yeeeesh. And I thought P5 Don was a wuss. I like Daniel Craig a lot, and the movie suited him well, but a little less gratuitous violence (Harry Potter and Casino Royale with the same PG-13 rating???!!!!) would be welcome. I and my teenagers really don't need to see our hero spend 20 minutes getting his family jewels re-cut. SS
On the Harry Potter bent, how about Robbie Coltrane as Bond. Now that would be something different! :)
And I know for sure that there is someone, somewhere who would die to have Alan Rickman play Bond. ;P

" Bean (discounting his brief LOTR), has never turned in a bad performance " Have you seen Ronin, mind to be fair to him at may have been some superb acting of a man doing a bad job of acting the part he was lying about. I haven't seen the new bond movie (i'm not a big fan) but Daniel Craig is a superb actor, LayerCake is in my top ten great movies, till i've seen it Pierce Brosnan remains my favorite bond though......Steve
PS one of my few claims to fame is i drove George Lazenby's film Aston Martin while it was on a UK tour for charity :o)
Sean Connery, awwwwww, the bestest Bond ever... You think 50+ difference in age counts ? You do think ? Ah well, I knew all along that I was born way too late to meet such hot men at their best years... Good thing is, Sean Connery is somehow still in his best years :D

Quote - This is all well and good but this is the first good Bond since Connery.
I liked Pierce Brosnon, I just didn't like the movies they put him in...
I mean, Ice castles in North Korea...?
My favorite though, was Roger Moore. Sorry Connery fans, but that's just how it falls for me. Haven't seen the new flick yet. My wife keeps looking at the trailer on TV and saying 'he doesn't look like Bond,' so I guess I'll just be picking this one up on video in a year or so...

Well....we could go see it together Arcady
....husband keeps grumping that "it's not bond, they've messed everything up. No Q, M shouldn't be female (and on and on)". So I just smile and nod...."Yes dear, when it comes out on dvd"
My Bond ratings -
Connery
Dalton
Brosnen
I must be weird...I liked Dalton's stint as bond.
I however did not like Madona's theme song for Die Another Day at all....but then in my little world it's hard to top Shirley Basey and Tina Turner...
Crazy alien chick FTW! (yeah....right....)

Always thought James Bond too upper class for my tastes.
Conversation from Bottom (BBC TV series)
Richie: Right! Let's have a cocktail. Right, what would James Bond have?
Eddie: Well, he'd have a load of birds 'round his gaff, and a corset on
so no-one would guess he was sixty.
Richie: Vodka martini, that's it, vodka martini. Shaken about the place
but not spilt.
Now if you want a real spy you can't go past Callan. Poor, dissolutioned and glamourless, the best.
I liked Edward Woodward in both Callan and Equalizer, when both series airedon Israel Television in the Eighties.
