Subject: Airplane Clear Glass Mat?

When making a mat for an airplane, what do you do for the glass so it will be clear to see the pilots inside?

Just use a transparent glass with a slight smoky tint, refraction of 100, and low reflection. If the glass has no tint it will not be visible and may look odd.

"Just use a transparent glass"  ....?     Where/how  do you get the transparent glass...Remember this will be on a UV .Mat for the plane...

ah...well that's different. I'm not an expert (but check with the UVMapper forum), but I'd think it wouldn't be mapped. You'd probably play with the features somehow to set transparency.

You can UV map and paint a texture map for a model and still use procedural materials on parts of it. If the canopy is a separate mesh or object group, you can assign a Bryce procedural material (glass) to it without affecting your textures or mapping on the rest of the model. I do this all the time.

Thanks to all of you...I get it now...Didn't think you could have both..You know, cake and eat it too

I use a light glass with more reflection than refraction. Keep the refraction low and reflection around 10 or so.
