Subject: Poser 7 and Vue 6 Infinite

norm1153 ( ) posted Tue, 12 December 2006 at 8:25 AM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 6:26 PM

So far I've only tried a few PZ3 imports into Vue 6 Inf.  I did change Vue6 to point to Poser 7; in fact it had Poser 7 in the list, already.  But I pointed it to the Poser 7 exe.

I imported Ben2 and the first render went fine.  After that, things became very sluggish, and finally froze, and the program crashed.

When importing the Poser PZ3, I chose to use/keep the Poser engine for shaders, from that dialog box that pops up during the import.  This is the purpose of having these two programs work together; if I have to give that up to get a PZ3 successfully imported, well...... That may not be the cause of the problem here, but I'm just saying...

Running on a Pentium Dual Core machine w/ 2 GB RAM in WinXP SP2.  This machine is new, and I intend to use it strictly for Poser/Vue, plus related utilities & Photoshop.

Has anyone else had any such a problem?

I haven't used Vue in a long time but I recall there was always SOME problem whenever a new version of Poser or Vue came out.  Even if it found it in the list, it may not be compatible and require an update from Vue.  Their support forums there are pretty good at answering questions, if a bit slow.

HEY! I want Vue 6!!! ...lol...Only have Vue 5 and waiting for Poser 7 to be shipped...You have to give it some time for everybody to catch up with those products.:)

I would recommend waiting until the final release of Vue is out.  Using the Poser in association with what is essentially a reworked Beta version is not a cause for alarm.  I think what E-On is doing is using the customers as freelance Beta testers.  Best thing to do is to try all avenues of approach, document what works and what fails, where it fails and what all you included in the render.  Bump this info up to the E-On team so they can have it all polished and shiney by the time they release the final product.  That way I get to avoid all the trials and tribulations you had to go through. J/K :P

Did you try this with Poser6?
The reason I ask is that I've been using Poser6 with Vue6Inf for the last few weeks with no import problems asssociated with either software using both poaer shaders and not!
I'm waiting on my boxed Poser7 so I have some interest in your answer here!

Tried importing V4 from Poser 7 in Vue 6 xStream and after a while Vue died on me, they're probably still a few things to fix, probably on Vue side (Dual opteron dual core + 4 go memory, XP64)
But, Vue is still a pre release so .... :)

edit : created the exact same scene in poser 6, changed the setting in vue to use poser 6, exact same crash, so definitely not a P7 problem

Oh yes, Vue 6 Inf works fine w/Poser 6.

One thing I picked up in another post, and it has helped.  In Poser 7 under Preferences -- Render Options, I increased it from 1 process to 2 processes, and as separate threads.  I have a dual core Pentium.  That helped immensely, and now I am not sure but that performance is back to equal that of Vue 6/Poser 6.  Haven't had a lot more time, but will do some more testing in the near future, I expect.

But that may have made the difference.

Ouch, I just upgraded to Vue6inf. cause they promised to have better Poser support (besides a lot of new features). I hope the final version will fix this, but on the other hand I wasn't planning to install Poser6 because I expect problems in Poser7 with P6-plug-ins.

bopperthijs: Vue6Inf works fine with Poser6 imports, no issues for me at least! Poser7 I don't know about until my box arrives :)

I have poser 7 and vue 6 infinite. They defitinely still need to work out a few things for vue to read the .pz3 file. I made a file in poser 7 with aiko and she wore the Marako outfit  from daz3d, then when I loaded it into Vue6 aiko was naked. But after redoing the file in poser 6 and loading it into vue6, everything was fine.

How about Vue 5 Infinite and Poser 7?  I don't think I'll be able to afford to upgrade right away to Vue 6 Infinite.
