Yep, painted on eyebrows.

Yeah, wish they had real bezier curves.

Oh, Opera, another thing about Sydney's eye movements vs V4's:  Sydney's expressive eye movements (whatever they are called, the ones that actually move the eyelids akin to V4's) are on two separate dials, one for up and one for down. (well, plus the side to side, but that one is one dial and doesn't more the lids much from what I remember).  I don't really care for that, anyway, now that's tow morph channels you have to keyframe!

Having gone over the FF:TSI flick more than once, the only thing I could find that was an issue was the lack of moisture at the lacrimal, and that was pretty much every character. Look at the gloss of the eye, pretty much dependant on surface moisture in the real thing, then contrast that with the color and light reflection/refraction (or lack thereof, actually), in the inner corner. One says wet, the other says dry. Not something that you have to reason out; it just looks wrong, and its one of those 10,001 details that people register without really comprehending it. Waiting on the box, waiting on the box....

How is Sydney's figure verses Judy's?  Just curious.

She looks a lot like Miki, just a tiny bit more caucasian...and I like her!

Klutz ( ) posted Wed, 13 December 2006 at 3:59 PM

Sydney...

I like her better than I thought I would given the promo shots.

I like her body well enough...

Her default face strikes me a little cartoony...Hint of anime in there somewhere for me. :0/

"It's pretty obvious what's happened with V4's & Poser 7's releases. The software makers have found themselves in bed with the content developers to lessen the makers' costs. So now we customers get less for our dime initially and have to shell out a lot more later on to get to a comfort level we're used to with V3 & Poser 5/6."

I have to comment on this one. We have no alliance with Daz, had no idea when V4 was to be released at a such a "strategic" time, and are concentrating on Poser.

We included more content in the P7 release then we ever have. We also included a free Passport membership wich while is only a 6 month membership, entitles you to all the G2 characters, FOR FREE. That includes James, Jessi, Koji, Kelvin, Syd, Simon, Olivia. And the clothing that comes with them. Which I think is 6 sets if you include the P7 stuff. So unless you have a really really slow connection, it's all yours to keep as fast as you can download it.

So... that's a whole bunch of stuff for $129 upgrade price. Not to mention all the other Passport free downloads and discounts, as well as the weekly CP free stuff.

Some of you may say wait... how do I get the upgrade price? $129 I don't actually own a copy of Poser, or I used to own Poser, or I use D|S?  Well, we did give away Poser 5....FOR FREE! So unless you were one of the 3 people that didn't get it, you might have to pay $249 for all of that, or find a pal who got more than 1 of the 70,000 or so copies.

And what about MIkiG2? Sorry she's not G2 and not included. Unless you purchased Miki 1 then Miki2 will be a free upgrade. Many people got her at the $19.99 Passport price and used one of their occasional monthly $10 coupons or their monthly rewards credit. Still doable. Did I mention the free Passport membership with P7?

My point is we're not in bed with anyone but our customers whom many think we are constantly out to rip off through an intricate maze of false advertising, pricing scams, and purposely ignored customer service emails. It's just not the case. Poser is a labor of love for all of us. Ok, yes, at times it can be more of a disfuntional co-dependant love/hate Freudian Kurt Kobain kind of thing.... ...............

Which is why the "I love Sydney" thread makes it all better.

Sincerely,

efSteve

So the next obvious question is, When will the G2 Jessi, Miki and Olivia be out with their clothes sets?

I'm keeping track of products for Sydney here:

www.contentparadise.com/forums/contentparadise/index.php

She's not got three morph kits and one hair fitting kit, and in the galleries there is a promo announcing a coming soon on a dress.

The body morphs in the kits look amazing, but none of them have good promo pics for their head morphs - which is a little frustrating. :)

Oh BTW, I found all the great Casina stuff, it was in the Casino root folder (silly me).

I'm not sure why anyone would feel ripped off clsteve, I'm very happy with my purchase, and with the goodies that came with it.  Actually, at the price (even the full, but especially the upgrade), I still think Poser is the finest software package available.  Heck, I've spent a lot more on higher end packages that I don't use nearly as much.

Aside from Sydney (who I do enjoy), I also would like to point out that the shader room, IMHO is one the greatest things I have ever used.  I was trained in 3D on Studio MAX years back and I always had a bit of trouble with their way of doing materials (hey, it grows on you, but still) I'm amazed how quickly I picked up the basics of the shader room, and I am constantly amazed as I learn new tricks.

Simon, is pretty cool too.  I can see a lot of potential for both characters.

In the end, I by Poser because it is Poser, extra content is just icing.  The Passport membership is like sprinkles and the coupon, well, it's just sugar overload.

Nope, no complaints here.

And, hey, go ahead and climb in bed with content providers (do I need to mention the awesome extras from people like VP?), let's all climb into bed and have a great old time... well, that's actually what we've kinda done, and there is nothing wrong with it from my point of view.

Cheers!

70,000 copies of Poser 5 were downloaded? Whoa. Did that surprise anyone? I know I let a bunch of people know about it. ^^ bB

Well, let me say that for me the amount of 'ready' clothing for Sydney supplied with P7 was a bit of a disappointment. That  was the reason I left her naked in the FyouV pic. Had there been a bikini or so she would have worn at least the bottom as a matter of courtesy to those who bother. Had no time to go into cloth room and let her grow into something.

Let me say it the lack of clothing is a  temporary inconveinience. Cloth room had ample opportunities.

As a suggetion, can we please have 'universal clothing' in Poser 8?

70,000 is actually lower than I would have expected or hoped, but it is a good showing. We're still more obscure than players of Dungeons and Dragons though. :)

I'm avoiding the shader room until I have Vue 6. Until then, as that is the only app that can import it, it's useless for me. :)

"70,000 is actually lower than I would have expected or hoped"

That was my immediate reaction too... until I remembered that it was for an older version of Poser that had been for sale (and unfortunately been available though downloading services) since 2002.   Take that into account along with the limited time the offer was available and 70,000 ain't too bad.  Think of it as icing on the cake.

Does anyone have a polygon count on Sydney yet? 😄

My brain is just a toy box filled with weird things

Sorry 'bout the picture not coming up right now. Seems Geocities found I generated too much traffic.

Trying to attach it now, but it does not seem very succesful.

(Yes I need to re-read the forum guide)

That image perfectly displays the problem I've always had with Jessi and now that I have with Sydney.  The hands are completely out of proportion with the rest of their bodies.  They just bother me and extremely so.
