Subject: Poser 7 wont load an object

iloco ( ) posted Wed, 20 December 2006 at 3:30 PM · edited Sat, 30 November 2024 at 5:25 PM

Has anyone loaded the P7-Roadster Maiko that is in the Poser 7 library in Figures Poser 7.

When I try to load it hangs up on me and I have to use the task manager to shut down Poser 7 to be able to use again. :(

I am curious if anyone else has this problem.

I haven't tried it yet but I've seen in the forums that this is happening to a lot of people.

I think this is why I've not tried loading the model ... lol.  Too many people having problems with it and reporting it to e-Frontier.

The car is extremely polygon heavy (~500,000) so it will take time to load.

I know but my poser 7 quit responding when loading it. :(

I takes quite a while to load. It's just a gazzilion polygons. Low memory systems will take a reeeeely long time to load it.

If you're planning to use it in a lot of scenes, and want it to load faster, export it as OBJ. I imported the base OBJ and it took a lot less time than loading the figure. Keep in mind that you will lose the posability, however.

... and the materials setup.

You could use CR2Builder to transfer those over, after saving as a prop :)

Netherworks ( ) posted Thu, 28 December 2006 at 4:36 AM

Is the roadster a static object or a figure?

I'm scared to look after reading all over about it :D

I have the idea to drop it in the modeler and do a polygon reduction on it ;)

It's a figure.
A lot the the polygon weight is in small but highly curved areas like the rear lights.

Nerd: Waht do you call "low memory system"? I have 2 Gig and it won't load on mine, are you saying that 2Gig is too small for P7???

It loads on my Laptop which is a 1 GB system, but it takes about 5 minutes.

Hi ya all....
**"Good old" Fixer brought it to THE POINT
**
If 2 Gigs are really to small for ANY Program... Then there is something WRONG with the SOFTWARE... NOT with our Systems!!!!!

After ready all this Bugreports (i agree with most... some i couldnt find (yet).
**MY answer is:
**I have two Systems running on 2 Harddrives, and... after getting nuts with the Delete-KEY... (the Render-Progressbar also is NOT correct in my Poser 7.... its fully filled when the render STARTS!!!)... i switched back to "Good old Poser 6".

That was the badest Christmasgift i`ve EVER GOT! Question is: When does the first Servicepack arrive??????

Greetz, Factor.... and everybody a good switch to 2007.
Hope that this next Year don`t asks for more Memory, too! Germany is allready an error!

Hey Dude....   ;-)

*I wrote the "Good old" in QUOTES!!!

See ya... hm... (unfortunately not possible!) ... **READ YA!

Ray

P.S.: "Germany... an error"** I mean that politically.... the county itself is wonderful! Im BORN here... but dont agree with the political System. Its the same sh** as in all of the world: The RICH get richer, the POOR get poorer!*

I think 2Gb remains the most that Poser can even theoretically handle, because it's 32-bit code.
