Subject: V4 + morph dialing + plenty of magnets + 1 week = total HOTTIE

Ok, as always, "hottie-ness" is in the eye of the beholder; and I'm still working on her, but so far I'm very encouraged about V4's potential for gorgeousness and stunning physique.  Still needs work on her face and some other tweaking to suit my taste, but IMHO this figure shapes up VERY nicely.

Can't wait to see some better textures for her (this one is only medium rez which came with V4 Complete package, improved with RealSkinShader).

Now to test her in P7!

cheers...

I tend to like small, firm breasts and something else (won't go there, tyvm).  But nice if you like bazoongas (others feel free to add terminology). :)

She is starting to look good, tyvm.  Like kuroyyme, I prefer more natural boobies (after all, I am a girl) but you're right.  V4 is going to end up being one of the best figures to come out of DAZ in a long while - and I still plan on using V3 a lot, too.

Ah well, the beauty of magnets.  Think how much the world would save in silicone if we could export magnets to the real world.  And if you thought couples fought over the TELEVISION remote, imagine all the "Spousal Magnet Dial Remote" tussles which would go on starting at about 10pm.

But as for V4, is this better?  SHE looks happier...

cheers...

This incarnation has hips that are boyish and thighs which are not at all curvey.  She's top heavy as well.  Hmmmm...  I prefer my ladies a little more proportionately fleshy all round.  OK, at least it proves the morphs are working.

I do see something there in the rib carriage on the right side that I need to fix. Now I need to figure how to save the morphs out from DS. Tguyus, I like the second morphs best. Looks more natural with smaller breasts. The face looks good too.

Well, that's the beauty of morphs and magnets... this one dials back the overall shape morphs I made to 50 percent, increases the standard V4 thigh thickness and thigh tone morphs, dials back my customized breast size magnets to 20 percent and increases my customized butt shape magnets by 20 percent.  Took 90 seconds.  cheers...

Also, thanks to FSMCDesigns and BluEcho and others for the kind words.

BTW, for those curious about P6 versus P7 render times, render times for the image in the first post were as follows:

P6 Firefly --> 4 minutes and 7 seconds

P7 Firefly --> 2 minutes and 40 seconds.

That's a little less than two-thirds the render time for P7.  Not too bad, especially for a machine without a dual or quad core...

I'm so glad you posted this, I've been wondering if it was worth buying P7 seeing as I don't have a multicore processor, now you've reassured me that it'll be more than worth it.

Ulp...  I hope my results transfer at least as well to your figures and your machine.  I'd feel bad if I led you astray and you didn't get the performance improvements I got.  Just so you know, my machine doesn't have a dual or quad core processor, but it IS a Dell Workstation class machine.  There may be other high end buses and caches and/or other hardware which make P7 work better than P6.  Apparently, it uses an Intel Xeon processor, though it is not the new Xeon D dual core processor.

ThrommArcadia ( ) posted Sat, 16 December 2006 at 10:31 AM

I can pipe in and honestly say that I've seen a speed improvement too, especially after telling it to use 4 threads (though I only have one processor). and extra especially after telling it to render in a separate process.

And even if there wasn't much of a speed increase, P7 won't freeze up during a render if you get you settings right.  It handles thing differently, so gone are the days of making a huge scene and then wondering if it is doing anything after six hours, only to have to ctrl-alt-del your way out.

Now it will render, it might take time, but it will push that image through without stopping.  That's their claim and I haven't locked it up yet.

So you know, I'm running an AMD 2600 1.25GB RAM.  Nothing special, but the multiprocessor thingy still gave me an obvious performance increase.

Okay, now I'm curious how THAT works; i.e., telling it to use 4 threads.  I don't think I've heard of that before.  Any place I could read up on it?  Thanks!

Klutz ( ) posted Sun, 17 December 2006 at 4:31 AM

I have seen it posted in a couple of threads..

It kept freezing on Auto settings using firefly at anything other than draft, when it would really chug. :bored:
I have a similar spec machine to Thromm, by the look of it,  but have a little more memory at 2 Gig.
I tried it. It does help a lot.
I timed similar renders and found that switching to these manual settings halved the render times. ( Bear in mind we are halving from a 'chug chug' or 'freeze' situation though  )

Bucket 32   Threads 4 Seperate Process ticked.

Seems to be a lot better....Still not sure it is optimal yet though. :sneaky:

So if anyone can suggest any further tweaks? 😉

Klutz 👍

Hi Nebula--  Glad you like her AND her more endowed twin sister.    And believe it or not, she is wearing Vicky 2's high heels.  I had to un-hide the tran dials on the foot part and do some "tran-ing" and rotating and scaling, but they seem to work very well even at several extreme foot angles, though I haven't tested them through all possible ranges of motion yet.  I also had to scale V4's feet using the standard footsize morph and then hide her (unbelievably long) toes.  cheers...

Having just taken a gander at your gallery, I can see why you would feel protective of your characters' facial morphs... they're gorgeous!  But I also noticed your figures have great, well, ... figures.  Did you achieve those results with morphs or magnets, or a combination?  They really do look great.

Anyway, I'll give the product vs freebie vs tutorial some thought.  They all have advantages and disadvantages, though the one disadvantage they all share is that they each take a good chunk of time to do properly... and I still have that pesky day job!

Thanks lululee!

Truth be told, though, after another couple weeks working with her, I'm putting her in storage.  V4 is simply creating too many problems for me with animations.  Her hair, jaw+teeth, and clothing props aren't staying parented to her through animation sequences.  This happens in both P7 and P6, though P7 seems worse because it is happening in P7 with some of my older V2 figures too (which always worked fine in P6).  Some have suggested it's a video card and/or driver problem, but I have an nvidia quadro fx go1400 with the latest drivers so it is something else apparently unique to V4 and/or P7.

So for now at least, I'm dumping both V4 and P7 and going back to my V2 characters in P6.

Anyway, happy holidays to you too lululee!

Based on what I saw here I downloaded V4 plus hi-res textures and from the very first test I was amazed at how well the model looks. This is the first female model (from either DAZ or Curious Labs) since the P4 woman (Posette to her fans) that looks good out of the box. All of the others required extensive tweaking to make into some kind of reasonable good looker.

V2 and V3 were both extremely solid around the middle and very broad-shouldered ladies, Jessi's limbs were totally out of proportion (at first glance she looked like an alien) and her chest was most unnatural. And as for the P5 woman, was she modeled from the boss's girl friend or something ?

Congratulations Tguyus on your work so far, and well done DAZ for getting it right at last.

I would have to cast my vote for the third image. Smaller, more natural breasts, with more weight in the hips and legs is always more believable. For me, believable beauty always looks more impressive than "fake" beauty. Well done.
