Subject: Help a Frustrated Idiot ??

Mirth ( ) posted Tue, 02 January 2007 at 3:24 PM · edited Tue, 04 February 2025 at 1:17 PM

I've been playing with Daz 3D today, and I have already learned a lot, but I am still having problems.

I realize that these are probably noob questions, but here goes:

I have created a scene of Blue Beetle, in the Faerie Forest ( It is the only backgound I have atm :

  1. I have saved it as a scene ( .daz file) but how do I save it as a .jpg image to post ? . Photoshop won't recognize DAZ files :(

  2. Is there anywhere to get more free 3D backgounds, like an urban street for example?
Unless you want to see lots of characters in the faerie forest, hehe

  3. I downloaded and unzipped the wonder woman and supergirl costumes to the content folder, and I can see their names in the directory , but I cant find the clothes to put onto V3 ??

All help greatly appeciated .
and
Happy New Year !

cheers,

:) Mirth :)

You can either import a background picture or go hunt for a commercial or freebie type of environment.

You can just create a plane and slap a background picture onto it, or have 3D models of mountains, cities, whatever, depending on your project's needs.  Loads of either type, and available as freebies or commercial items, here at Renderosity or over at DAZ3D.

The costumes are almost certainly in Poser format. DAZ|Studio can import such items (with exceptions) but they are treated differently - you need to have a separate Poser content directory, and you need to make sure you are viewing that (and not the D|S content directory) in the Content palette.

The fact that you can see folders for the costumes at the moment indicates that there is something slightly non-standard about the way the zips are set up - what you should have is a Runtime folder, with a libraries sub-folder and probably a textures and/or Geometries folder inside it. If you have a folder (called "Supergirl" perhaps with a Runtime folder inside, move the Runtime folder up to the Content folder: if you have the libraries and any other folders on their own, with no container, make a folder called Runtime in your Content folder and move them into it.

Now in D|S look to see if the Content palette already has a plain folder icon labelled Content (as well as the folder icon with an S, probably labelled Studio, that holds the free base content). If you do, you should find a set of library folders in there with your costumes. If not, go to Edit>Preferences>Directories tab, click the button at the top and select Poser content directories, and click the Add button then select your Content folder, which should add the Poser libraries to the Content palette.
