I would not say "fine" - there is a nasty bug in the Cloth Room that pops up when you hit the cancel button, and also cloth simulation in general is a little wierd, in that the mesh of the clothing appears to animate 1 frame behind everything else so it looks like you have a lot of poke through even though the final result looks good.
All in all it's a great improvement over P6 though, I don't regret switching over.
I have to say its pretty stable. Its my main work horse now instead of P6. Just the fact I can render bigger scenes much faster with higher graphic setting makes it worth the change. I don't use the built in content so maybe some of that has problems. All older scenes load without a hitch, all old characters from v2/m2 on up load fine. I don't use cloth and hair rooms so again those could be buggy and I wouldn't know it.
I do want to add that the duplicate object function is a God send for anyone who makes sets using those set construction kits. Instead of having to load each element over and over you can simply duplicate an element and move it to the next position. Great for setting up sets, halls, tunnels etc. And it appears to save and load just fine. Only issue with it is if you try and duplicate figure that is a child of another figure, it duplicates the entire tree from the parent on down which I think is a bug.
Pretty good for me except for the random crashes to desktop. One has to keep the bucket sizes way down to minimize the crashes.
As I stated before, I really enjoy working with P7. It renders very fast, the menues are faster, working with P6 was hell. I wasn´t able to do a test render without spending hours to wait for it finish and then realizing the application had crashed and all my work was gone.
P7 isn´t perfect, i had a few crashes, but ways better than P6. I don´t like the morphbrush, it takes a lot of memory and is to complicated to use and i don´t get what I want, Hexagon is much easier to use for morphtarget creation, so I´ll stick to that. And you´re unable to use the morphbrush if there´s a magnet apllied to the bodypart you want to use it for.
Had P7 for a week or so and only 1 crash so far... after I'd put the 8th (clothed) figure into a scene. My biggest peeve is that it seems to take much longer than P6 to load poses, expressions etc. from the library.
Rendering seems fast and good.

I've had Poser 7 for about 3 weeks now and I have noticed that it does the following:
Other than that, have not had any major issues with the application. I have been doing mostly animation tests under different rendering
So far P7 has run with far greater stability on my machine than P6 or P5 ever did. Not a single crash, freeze or burp in over a week's worth of heavy use, although admittedly there are still some features I haven't stretch-tested yet. My main machine is a Mac Pro 2 x 2.66 GHz Dual Core with 4 GB of RAM. P7 is notably faster in every respect except loading figures, where it is slightly slower. Renders are MUCH faster, as is movie-making (natch). As someone else said, P7 seems to love the Mac OS. And the multiple-undo is so sweet sometimes I do it just to prove I can.
I've had no problems with stability and the render speed is a great improvement. The only real complaint I have is that it seems to take significantly longer to clear a scene than in previous releases, and the interface reaction when manipulating dials or working in the view portal sometimes appears to be less responsive than what I've grown accustomed to.
Another feature I appreciate is the ease of adding additional runtimes. A few mouse clicks and you're finished. Overall, this is an excellent initial release.
Its Fine!
Great for rendering big scenes that Poser 6 would just laugh at you at. Only bug I have found is sometimes it will not let you delete an object. Until you exit and reload save file. Other than that it wees from a very great height on Poser 6, especially with nmulti threading set up correctly.
Speaking as an animator, P7 is awful, at least so far. Clothes, hair, jaw-teeth parts all go flying off and out of the figure (i.e., parenting loss). I have a high end machine with a high end nvidia graphics card and the latest drivers so it is not my machine. Sorry to sully the thread with a negative review, but ... I've gone back to P6 until SR1 comes out... though if I need a quick still P7 does render faster. cheers...
Works pretty well so far. I turned down the undo cache to speed up the deletes. Noticed that the library thumbnail is black if I save my figure while the morph tool is open...
But the improvements make it so much better. The movie settings window still forgets when I check framerate (but it does recall the new frame rate number, just not that it is selected) but so many things work better now. I've had a few random closes and a couple of hangs. The hangs may have went away had I waited long enough (I found this out by accident) and the random closes were at times when I wouldn't lose anything. So far I haven't lost anything but time, and less than I would have with version 6. Morph tool is worth the price alone.
Except for minor quirks, Poser 7 works great here.
Those quirks include things like the delete key, exporting a scene with Use Binary checked and things like that. I rarely save full scenes so that doesn't affect me very much.
I have nothing but superior performance (compared to earlier Posers) with Rendering and working with the UI.

This was a reply in another threat, but after all the gloom I've been reading about P7, I thought a thread would be nice for those who aren't having many issues with P7.
I'll start. I installed P7 a few days ago and except for the delete key issue (made MUCH better by reducing the undo que), I haven't really had any problems with it that makes me want go back to P6. Even posted a few P7 pictures in the gallery.
P7 renders much faster than P6 ever did and I'm able to crank up Firefly's setting way further then I could with P6. However, I can still 'hang' poser by pushing it too far...but I've gotten used to where that point is (and it's seems to be about the same with P7) and stay away from it. If it's a really complex render, I'll chunk it and combine it all in postwork.
All-in-all, I'm pleased with it, however I do have a pet peeve here. In all reality P7 is really Poser 6.5...maybe. There's no significantly new feature(s) in P7 to warrant a major revision upgrade. Some nice tweaks and enhancements and additions yes, but no new significant features. P4 to P5 was correctly revisioned. P7 was not.
Anyway, happy rendering!
