Subject: V4 head on V3 Body is it possible?

rowlando ( ) posted Tue, 09 January 2007 at 1:05 AM · edited Sat, 23 November 2024 at 3:58 PM

Dose the V3 to V4 figure use the V3 head on the V4 body or the other way around, and which textures work on this figure V3 or V4 or all??

I really like the V4 figure, the movements are great, the textures need some work though.

It's V4's head with V3's body shape and uses V4 textures and V3 clothing.

Confusing, huh ;)

V4 head and V3 shaped body.  No morphs. V4 textures.

If they had actually put a V4 head onto a V3 body capable of accepting morphs, that would have been good.  They didn't do that.  It's shaped like, but NOT a V3 body.

Can you inject the morphs for V4 into the head and the morphs for the v3 body otherwise whats the point of it.

Because you can't inject morphs into the V3 body I see no point to this at all, what were Daz thinking?! I would imagine that you could inject V4 morphs into the head, I haven't tried this.

pjz99 ( ) posted Tue, 09 January 2007 at 2:30 AM

I don't see why you couldn't inject V3 body morphs into V3 mesh - from recent experience with this myself, morph targets can be saved and loaded on a per-part basis (mine was just for ears, on the Head for example).  I don't have any urge to do this myself but I don't think it would be especially hard, I suspect the only hard part is making the neck blend smoothly.

The V4 head is on the V3 Body and has head morphs included, but not the V3 body morphs so I tried to inject them and the V3 body moved slightly but no dials show up for using the morphs, I injected the morphs one group at a time.

I used P6 to do it so now I will move the V3 morphs to P7 and try with it.

V4 has a completely different mesh so no V3 bidymorph will work as the vertices are different. The only chance to add the morphs are tools like the magnets from Netherworks-studios, designed to create the bodymorphs of V3 in clothes.

Oh, oops, that's not what I thought was being asked about.  Someone (DAZ forum I think it was) actually took the V4 head mesh off the body and welded it on the V3 body mesh.  Sorry for the confusion.

The point of the V4toV3 figure is to be able to use all those V3 outfit y'all want to continue rendering :)

ThrommArcadia ( ) posted Tue, 09 January 2007 at 4:50 AM

Yes, but Xena, how many people ever used V3's body without shaping it to their preference?  This is why we all like the clothes to have as many body morphs as possible.

Yeah, the V4toV3 figure was really pointless, unfortunately.  I don't know anyone who liked the stock look of the V3 body.

A shame, really.

"I would imagine that you could inject V4 morphs into the head, I haven't tried this."

DAZ' "V4toV3" can't use regular V4's headmorphs either.

"V4toV3" has her own set of expression and head morphs, but if you buy a custom made character for regular V4, that new headmorph can't be transferred over to V4toV3.
(Unless it's just a combination of stock DAZ morphs.)

So she even is useless in that regard, unless a merchant also adds a "V4toV3" friendly head morph to his character pack.
(Like recently happened with the "Emma" morph)

Of course you can combine (standard) V4's head with regular V4's body yourself.
Such a figure could use all V3 bodymorphs and all V4 headmorphs.

The problem is, unless someone remaps V4's head (Or V3's body), you have to use two different sets of textures:
One for the head, one for the body.

Not impossible, but definitely a nuisance and most likely too difficult for beginners.

You also run into trouble if you want to distribute such a figure, because it uses both V3 and V4 mesh.

rowlando ( ) posted Tue, 09 January 2007 at 5:43 AM

I have been able to do this.

1 load the V4 to V3 body I have the V4 pro pack inc morphs, which means this V4 to V3 figure has the V4 head morphs to use as is.

I was unable to load any V3 body morphs Daz inj ones.

I was able to load Wrymaster V2 Volumptuous body.

I was able to load all the morphs from Netherworks for V3 and all work fine.

fitting clothing was a little harder but all work fine, the poses worked best which are designed for V3.

Overall if you can inject the Netherworks V3 clothing morphs into the body which did work fine you have a useable figure V3 with a V4 head, but you can only use the V4 Textures, I used the Genesis texture fine.

Thanks Rowlando

if you want just v4 for her expressions but like the body of v3 here is what i would do instead on trying to weld stuff together that probably will not work...

just place you v3 where you want to..then render her..then place v4 at same place and pose and make sure that neck and head are roughly the same size also try to have a skin for v4 that matches your v3 closely foe the skin saturation......delete v3 and render v4...

go into photoshop and open v3..open v4 then add it on top of you v3 as a new layers and erase the part of v4 you do not like leaving only the stuff you want to see from the 2 plates...merge the layers and clean up any non matching artifacts.

If you are just doing one image i think that is what i would do...i did not try this myself...god knows why but i think i would do this...

i do this all the time if i want to add stuff that i am missing from previous render or want to properly had clothes because of boobs size problems and such...

this probably will not help much but it is an idea....

cheers!

you could google "TenTen" and there's a great tutorial about Frankensteining characters. I'm pretty sure that you could then use V4 head morphs with V3 body morphs if that's what you're looking to do.

So Rowlando, show me how your netherworked Ve/V4 hybrid looks? I think I might use your method. Can you make a muscular athletic looking one to show me please? Love esther

Hello Esther

I applied the netherworks Muscular morph which did not give the body muscular definition it was more of a bulk image, which I did not like so I have attached this one.

Its V3 Pinup, plus buxom and waist narrow morphs only keeping V4 head shape hair and face style.

Finally a closer one it just shows that the V4 to V3 figure can work if you can inject some morphs for the V3 body shape.

Thanks Rowlando
