THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Panorama

While I continue to creep around here catching up on my duties....feel free to take a look at the one artistic thing I have been able to do in the last month.....a panoramic night shot, taken with my little digital camera. It is 6 shots taken in a 180 degree pan with the shutter left open for 10 seconds as to pick up all the city lights and mountains in the background.

This was my first attempt at stitching photos together. The stitching turned out well enough, but slight exposure "seams" can be seen in the sky, which was me forgetting to turn my auto exposure settings off when I snapped the pics. Live & learn.

Note - I resized this down 60%, but its still 5248 x 760, 985Kb. Just fyi.

That would be Rancho Cucamonga (California). About 40 minutes east of Los Angeles, as the 210 freeway goes.

No, didn't mark out degrees. Just eyeballed it to have a little bit of overlap. The software automatically stitches it all together (normally). if it can't figure out a seam, you just do it manually, still very easy.

I do photography for my brothers Real Estate business, and this was a view from one of the houses he is selling. The original reason for him wanting panoramas was to for me to create QTVR of house interiors, but I am also getting to do exterior shots like this.

Fun stuff.

Stitching software used is Realviz's Stitcher.

Great shot. I knew it wasn't LA proper, or the Valley, or the San Gabriel Valley ... but somewhere close (or closeish).  Just couldn't place it .... Cucamonga ... who woulda guessed.

AS .... what software are you using to do your pano stitching??  I did several panos a few years ago.  I think I used something like ipix??  Not certain I remember.

Could be worse, could be raining.

Any changes in color would again be from me forgetting to turn off my auto exposure when taking the pics. That I have since learned is "step one", lol.

Software used is Realviz's Stitcher.

Really....to get the best of lighting, I would need to to take multiple shots of each angle, with different manual shutter times, and then combine them in Photoshop. Here you can see the darker areas, but the moon is blown out.

I wouldn't mind having that view either! Their "poolhouse" (1,000 square feet) is larger than my apartment....
