Subject: I want to give away my Cornucopia3D Vouchers!

StealthWorks ( ) posted Wed, 17 January 2007 at 4:52 AM · edited Sat, 11 January 2025 at 10:17 PM

Hi
I have $45 of Cornucopia vouchers let and can't for the life of me see anything I want to buy on the Cornucopia3D site (That is actually eligible for voucher purchase that is!). I believe that these vouchers will expire 30 days after Vue6 is released so rather than let them expire I thought I'd give them away to someone who might be able to make use of them

To make it fair I was thinking of doing a contest. I would post a landscape photo and the person who was able to get closest to reproducing it in Vue  would win.  The photo would be a scene taken off a travel brochure. To prove there was no postwork done  and to allow me to reproduce the picture on my computer, I would require the Vue file and any royalty-free textures used in the scene from the winner

Now I know I cant actually transfer the voucher on the Cornucopia site but I could buy whatever content the winner wanted and send the files to them.

Would anyone be interested in this kind of contest?

Moderators, are there any legal issues or things I need to clear with renderosity to set up a contest such as this? For instance, would I just post the contest as a thread on this forum or could I get it to appear on the front page under the contests sections?

Thanks

I think you should post this in the sore talk forum at C3D as well. Bear in mind that if you offer copy protected content, it won't work, since these items are tied to your install codes.
Aren't there any plants at C3D that you like? No objects? There are very good quality items at the store, imho.

Hi Bruno
I didn't realise that copy protected items once downloaded couldn't be transferred.
Maybe I should only offer to purchase non-copy protected items (most of teh items have a copy-protected and a non-copy protected version)

There are a lot of good things on the Site but most of them at the bottom say "Not eligible for voucher purchase". Unfortunately there is no easy way of looking for items that can be purchased with a voucher and i didn't have time to sit and click through every item on the store and read the blurb on each one to see if it is eligible. You'd think that a company as large as E-On would have the ability to add a useable search facility to search for types of items in the store

Well, a vast majority of the plants are eligible I think. Only the brokered ones ( Linda Daireaux's, Forester's and   Realm arts'for example)  are not eligible. And e-on is not a big company, btw.
But yours is a good suggestion and you should submit it to the Store talk thread over at C3D.

Well, due to popular demand, I've been offering almost my stuff now in both copy-protected, and non-copy protected versions. The waterfalls and first three River Rapids packages are still copy-protected, but I'll be putting some new ones up that will come in both versions.

My understanding is that 458 items on C3D are non-copyprotected - John Stevens' count two weeks ago, I believe. That makes the majority of items non-copy-protected.  But, don't you still have to tie every download to a specific Vue serial number, Bruno021? (Or have I just been downloading nothing but copy-protected items?)

Hmmm...I don't think so, forester. I Hadn't registered my laptop install of Vue5 Infinite, and I was able to load in the non encrypted objects that I bought. for the main PC install.

OK, great!

Maybe to make that clear - and I don't understand why Bruno does not have problems.
Encrypted (copy-protected) items work for all your Vue versions you have registered at the moment you download the item. And nowhere else. I "tested" that because I bought a Vue Pro Studio after the others and there the protected items do not load while they load fine in all my other Vue versions I have.

Since Vur 6 pre-release there is a change in policy to what I described. Before that it was even more tight, the items definitely worked only for the license you downloaded it for. Now this has changed a little and is easier for all of us with more than one license. So a transfer in my eyes as it is planned here is not possible for encrypted items.

Wabe, I was talking about non copy protected items, following Pamela's remark that even non copy protected items were tied to your Vue registration. My copy protected content won't load on my non registered laptop install of Vue5 ( dunno why I didn't register it at the time, btw!).

Sorry Bruno, i misunderstood then.  But nothing wrong in clarifying this i would say.

StealthWorks, did you read the EULA for items purchased at Cornucopia3D? Here's the link:

www.cornucopia3d.com/Cornucopia%20License%20Agreement.pdf

Para 4 says you can't redistribute items you purchase at the Cornucopia3D store (and this is normal for all content stores, I believe). So I don't think you can do this. If you want to sponsor a contest or something similar, you might want to contact the Cornucopia3D staff for info.

Djeser
Thanks for that. Looks like I'll have to just try and spend the vouchers!
