You can make your own textures and character morphs but these take a long time to learn and do. You can also purchase sets that vendors have already made here and at any of the other brokerages.
A lot of us have stores here. I'm also moving a lot of my stuff to my own site. I'll keep my new stuff up here for a while but since I'm still a relatively new vendor here and there's a gross $$ amount to make before I can add more than three products (which I've not even come close to) I'll be putting things up on my site as well.
Check the marketplace here and at some of the other places you'll find mentioned here (DAZ, 3d Commune, PoserPros to name a few) and you'll see what I mean about there being a lot of content for Poser.

Thanks soul... But i still will say i always have wanted too push myself in the deep end ..and i would rather TRY and make my own face lets say.. How would i even start doing it ? :/ i have poser 6 with like 4 different characters in there already as defualts but i want too make my own face...Does this make any sense at all ? :/ lol
You might want to consider looking at some of the various morph tutorials that are out there. There are a number of Poser World .... www.poserworld.com, that would apply to Poser 5 and 6.
Or, just google "facial morphs" or "poser face (or facial) morphs" and see what you come up with. There may also be tutorials here at Rendo.

thanks alot :) ill definatley check everything out.I study graphic design and am just realised that i wanna get into digital media and 3D grpahics is a major intrest at the moment. And i really want too push myself and try and start off on my own 3D face instead of using the websites own faces. See where i end up lol..im not going too give up even if i get frustrated as im learning i guess :/...
Now if you want hours and hours of fun you can take the stock P6 figures into the Face Room and start playing with the dials. Never know what you might wind up creating:) As far as texturing you creation, do as others mentioned about searching the free area. I haven't used the P6 figures for so long I can't remember if V3 and M3 textures work or not.

Okay, the easy answer LOL.
In poser6, load in say, Jessi, the female p6 figure. Make sure you load the one thats "FBM" or full body morphs. Once loaded, select her head in the workspace, and voila, a set of dials will appear for her head to your right. You can move those dials, which will change facial features.
Not satisfied? Not enough ethnicity? No problem! Click on the folder tab up top to go to the face room! Now, in the face room, look to your lower left, lookie, more dials! These will litterally re-arrange her face, and add ethnicity, play with the dials until you have what you like, then on the upper right, click "apply to figure". Go back to the pose room, and voila, you have a morphed enthnic Jessi!
You can do that with any of the Poser 6 people! However, figures you buy, or get from free stuff, will have morphs or injections you can select, to get the dials in the pose room, yes, its just that simple!

So Tiari? lol!....thanks for that ill so go try those out now..But how about starting your own face..only face not body..in poser?..how do i go about that? V3 and M3 figures belong to Victoria3 and Michael3 from Daz3d. THey wont fit other figures. "Injections" are those dials to the right, but except being "preloaded" there's more, and you'd choose the dials you want to "inject" from your pose file, and zing! A dial shows up. As far as I know only figures from Daz have the injection feature (v3,m3 aiko and hiro so on so fourth).
As from making a head from scratch? Well now, start learning how to 3d model LOL. Poser wont exactly do it for you. But, if you check out the manual for the face room, there's ways to make a "new head" if you will, using photographs. You load in a front photograph of the face in the top left square, and a side view on the lower. It will attempt to morph your figure face into that face shape, and use the photo as a texture. Granted, I havent had a huge amount of fortune using this method.
If you want to try your hand at modeling, try wings3d, which is free. You can go to the wings3d forums here on 'rosity, and at the top there's a link to the download. I warn ya though, there's a pretty interesting learning curve lol.
hehe thanks alot Tiari..And do all posers have Victoria and michael in it or would i need too buy it ? ( just curious).. Ill keep at it and not give up from frustration! lol And well to be honest i think i meant making a head from scratch by making my own face..basically NOT using one of the characters already in poser. Thats what i mean by making my own face :) Now i bet you are going too tell me i need too make my own texture for that then ? :/ * runs* lol
Okay to "make your own face" thats what you'd do, exactly what i said earlier, you "morph" which means, CHANGE the face on the figure. Sadly there are no free floating bodiless heads in poser ROFL. You load jessi, and in the face room you can totally reconfigure her face, sculpting it if you will, like with clay so to speak. Its pretty cool. The base figure is still the 3d model Jessi (or whatever) but you can make it look like a complete alien if you desire. As for textures, yes, you would have to texture it yourself, or use the one it loads with. There are textures you can purchase from content paradise, renderosity, so on so fourth, for the p6 figures.
Victoria3 and Michael3 (Great figures, btw), can be purchased at Daz3d.com. They used to be free for a while but last i checked they arent anymore. You'd have to go lookie :) There are also some great free figures here at 'rosity. Go to freestuff, poser and then go down their list for characters :).
Oh, P.S. Though there are tons of great figures you can purchase, 3d modeled humans, do yourself a slight favor, and just work with what comes in poser until you are familliar with its usre interface. This way, when you do buy a figure, it will save you a lot of headaches on how to use your exiting newly aquired item :)

ACK i must wait and think before i press send lol Was going too squabble about the material room..what the hell do i do there ?:/ also is there a i dunno 'snap too figure' option? lol for clothes because when i try too put clothes on a model there are already clothes on the default model james..and the shoe ends up next too the original shoe .... :/ lol and the material room is just :/ :/ lol
I highly Reccommend our own Doctor Geep's Poser University as the place to get all your Newbie answers! He has Tutorials on just about EVERYTHING you'd want to know to get started.
um hope im not being too buggerish but i tried what you said by loading jessi in pose room and playing around with the face already in face room..( some scary looking ..no texture face lol) and well when i change the colour of the face sumtimes it goes all wierd..like very odd and strong highlights.. and also when i save it on the pose room model it tells me the colour is different ( that should happen right? ) thanks for putting up with me lol
I run a group that teaches beginners how to use poser...There is basically no complete beginner tutorials out there so i wrote some...Most of them think you have at least the basic knowledge of the program..If you'd like to join our little band of merry poserers/dazzers then pm me and i'll give you the link..

Basically, what it boils down to in a nutshell:
If you are looking for a Character or a piece of clothing/shoes, in Poser you will find them in libraries/character
If you are looking for hair, you will find them in either library/character/hair OR library/hair
If you are looking for character texture addons, hair textures, clothing textures, you will find them in library/poses. Sometimes on the rare occasion, a merchant will package their textures so that they go into the "Camera" folder (.cm2 files). If that is the case then you can either apply them from there, or do what I do and change the file extension to .pz2
If you are looking for props, they are located in library/props
Sometimes you will find clothing and hair or shoes in library/props too, depending on whether the item is actually created and saved as a figure, or it was created and saved as a prop.
Figure items are "conformed" or "parented"
Props are parented.
If you are just starting, it's best to get started on the right foot. DO NOT just install files into the runtime! That will only lead to frustration because you won't be able to find anything, and not all files are packaged equally and land up all over the place.

Another tip is to never just unzip or install anything directly to your runtime. Always unzip or install to a separate folder. Then browse through the folder to have a look at the structure of where things are going and make sure that it's in "proper runtime structure" so that when you move it to the runtime, they get into the proper folders.
Once you get your files installed, the next thing you want to do is to start making things :)

If you don't have the Daz V3 or the V4 figure, you should pick one or both. I'd personally suggest that you go with the V3 one as it's been around for years and there is a TON of freebies around for her, as well as a TON of stuff in the various Poser stores. It will be a couple of years before V4 catches up with clothing content and stuff and V3 stuff won't work on V4 because they are different figures. There are work arounds to getting clothing from a figure to fit another figure. I've included information on that further down. which is a popular figure, you should get it.
But if you want to change the look of her face and body, or use any of the available character addon packages, you need to buy the head and body morphs.

NOTE: You can use the textures from the character addon packages without having the head/body morphs.
If you want to change the look of the head/body and have the head/body morphs, do the following:
Install the head and body morphs.
Locate the morphs you want to use in the "Poses" folder.
Find the set of morphs you want to inject IE: Full Body, Full Head.... or just certain parts.
Left click the picture
Click the Single Checkmark at the bottom of the page.
Go to your Parameter Dials and start turning dials. (make sure that you have the part of the body you want to adjust as the active one IE: Morphing the ears, make sure you have the had selected.
Also, you can find many, many free morphs and textures for Vicky, and Aiko, and some even for David and Michael. So you don't have to turn any dials if you don't want to. Here are a couple links to get you started.

Using ready made character addons is pretty easy. You need to have the figure and it's head and body morph packages installed.
Load up the figure IE: Vicky
Go to the Poses folder, and instead of looking for your morphs from the packages, look for th character you want to use. Left click the image that has INJ, click the SINGLE checkmark at the bottom and the morphs for that character's look is injected into your figure. No dial turning necessary. Of course if you want to tweak the settings you can, but that's not mandatory.
Next locate the textures (if the package has some). They will be usually in the same library menu as your INJ that you used. Left click the image for the texture and use the SINGLE checkmark to apply it. If you don't like that texture, apply another one overtop.
You can even use a texture from another package. IE: Morphs from package A and textures from package C. Or morphs from packag A, texture from package C, eyes from package D, lips from package E. the combinations are endless :) If the packages have their head morphs seprate from the body ones, you can mix and match morphs too. IE: body morphs from package A with head morph from package D. That allows for even more versatility.
There are lots of sites out there that has free V3 character addons, and some that have for Aiko, Michael and even David.
Hair, clothing and textures are all figure/item specific, which means:
Michael 3.0 needs hair and clothing and textures made for Michael 3.0
Victoria 4.0 needs hair and clothing and textures made for Victoria 4.0
Victoria 3.0 needs hair and clothing and textures made for Victoria 3.0
Victoria 2.0 needs hair and clothing and textures made for Victoria 2.0
Aiko needs hair and clothing and textures made for her.
Like figures, a texture made for one hair style can only be used on that hair style.
Clothing is also specific when it comes to textures. A texture for a pair of pants, won't fit all pants... just the pants that it was made to fit. Same with all clothing items.
Sometimes you can manage to clothing item to fit another figure by tweaking of dials and increasing or decreasing the scale percent, but that doesn't always work. Sometimes a clothing item for Victoria 2 will fit Victoria 3, but their joints are different so posing a figure wearing clothing not made for it specifically will be hard.

There are 3 types of clothing:
Dynamic: This is clothing that you use inside the Cloth room. It takes longer to work with and there is a bit of a learning curve, but it's not too bad, but the results are more appealing in that the clothing actually looks more natural instead of "posed and stiff".
Confroming- Non Morphing: This is clothing that you conform to a figure. The clothing is made to fit the base figure. If you change the shape of the figure you will also have to refit the clothing, which isn't always easy if there aren't any corresponding body morphs in the clothing. Plus posing a character in positions where they are not nearly upright is difficult. But many prefer this type of clothing over dynamic.
Conforming-Morphing: This is the same as conforming-non morphing, only there are morph dials that you can turn that have corresponding body morphs for easier fitting. This is the preferred type of conforming clothing because it's easier to fit.
There are programs that can help fit clothing from one figure to another, or even from the same figure to one that has been "morphed up" using their morph packages.

Things like hair can be used across all figures just by tweaking the scaling and trans dials and then parenting the hair to the figure.
Poses are something else that can be used across most human-like figures with just a bit of tweaking to dig out a hand, or fix a shoulder.
These are all things I learned along the way and found to be valuable, so I try to pass them along because I know how frustrated I was when I first got Poser. Hopefully you will find the information helpful.

Iv'e let you into the group hun and it's all up from here...We give one on one advise and there is always someone around to help when you need it and if you get stuck on one of the tutorials ask any questions you need to..Iv'e also got a couple of video tutorials iv'e done to help you place your files correctly and one to make external runtimes and iv'e included a runtime you can copy to use..I'm sure you'll find the group very useful as our other members have..;)

Poser has a definate learning curve, and the first thing you need to do, is learn the user interface of the whole program before you even THINK of starting an image. Its exciting I know "whoohoo i got poser, I'm gonna make something"!!! But then you stare at the interface and go......... "er........".
Luckily for you, there's a lot of helpful peeps here, and I happen to have been one of those, that even with an encyclopedia of a manual and a thousand tutorials i needed someone to say, "see that button, click it stupid". So, i'll be more than happy to tell you what button to click LOL.
Just don't get yourself frustrated by putting the cart before the horse. You have to stand before you can walk, therefore, grasshopper (lol!), you must learn to conform clothing, before you can render!

Ok im new here lol and well im not really pulling my hair out.. Anyway..im gettinto the whole 3d digital field and have poser 6.. Now i understand it vaguely and am readin up alot about it BUT....say for example in a digital book i have there is a rendered picture of a woman,looks asian and basically a overall great picture. In poser there are only like 4 different faces that come with the product. How the hell do i get all these other skins and makeup? ( photoshop?) And just the faces in general? someone pleaseeeee reply back as soon as im waiting here for a reply twidding my thumbs! thanks sandra :)
