Lots of links to tutorials on texturing and painting in that thread. Maybe something in there will help you. Making a second skin seems pretty much along the same lines as making a "skin" texture."It is good to see ourselves as

able to know ourselves fully as we
are, especially the evil side of us.

angry with our critics but will take in good

I would like to learn how to do second skins, like what we get sometime when we purchase here and they include second skins with the character. I don't know how they do it and would have liked to learn.
ty Acadia. I had looked through there first, but have no clue what I should be starting with first.
I found its actually fairly simple if the character comes with one. Take a copy of the skin and paint on it whatever you want - then put it back in the folder and rename it what the skin texture currently in there is - of course then you have to take the original out.
This probably doesn't help you one iota, but I sure was happy with myself upon figuring it out.

First you need a seem guide.
If you are planning on making the textures and either selling them or giving them away, you can download the seam guide you need from the above link.
If you are just planning on making the second skins for yourself and not sharing them with anyone, then use a texture from your texture folder and paint over it. To do that:
1. Save a copy of the texture you are going to paint over to another directory, just so you don't over write it and ruin it.
2. Open your graphic program
3. Browse to the texture folder and find the texture you want to paint over.
4. Create a new layer and paing on the clothing you want to add. Use a new layer for each part (IE; arm, leg, etc, so if you change your mind you don't have to delete everything, just the layer you don't want).
Make sure you add drop shadows to embeilishments so that it adds some depth.
Save the new texture using the same name as the old one (remember to save a copy of the old one to another directory). Or you can save the new one with a different name and apply it in the material room.
7. Make a grey scale image of the new texture.
8. Save the grey scale image to the texture folder.
Now of course if you are starting from scratch on a blank seam guide, the steps are different because you will be also painting the skin texture not only the clothing texture onto the seam guide.
You can find information on how to paint skin textures in the links of the thread I linked you to.
