Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 18 10:25 pm)
but to answer your question, (a guess) the only cams that could do that would be front view or right/left view, they don't suffer from "lens distortion" if you are using the main cam, and zoom the lens to like 200mm focal length it might reduce the distortion. ( id do test renders of a lesser size first) But Poser was not designed for really large renders I think and ive seen it do some weird things one some large renders ive done >.< good luck Awesome picture!
jerr3d has it right...If you're using the main cam then open it up to around the 200mm mark, and render either three quarters of your image on each side and then stitch the results up in 'shop, or try doing it in 3 parts...left, center, and right and then stitching those three togther. Hopefully the overlaps should "even out" the distortion somewhat.**

1.) I do'nt think Poser 7 has any limit, aside from a hardware bottleneck.
I think the point behind printing beyond 72dpi(Computer Monitor Screen) is just to use more ink, for obvious reasons like durability, protection from fading, etc.
2.) Render the image as large as you can. Then when you bring it to the Printer, have him or her RIP(Rasterize(?) it with his/her RIP machine; because you want it printed at 300dpi(regardless of what it's at when you give it to him.)
3.) Photoshop can also increase the pixel count of your image, similar to RIP software; but through Interpolation. I'm not sure which mathematical process is visibly better, but I am pretty sure they both do a relatively good job.
I think I'm inclined to try jerr3d's first suggestion, but would somebody please tell me the correct demensions so I can enlarge back to 19 x 11 in PS? Jerr3d said 13 wide so what height? (Yes, now you all know the extent of my ignorance :blushing:).
My idea of rebooting is kicking somebody in the butt twice!
I do'nt have Poser open here, but I think another possible solution would be to make your Document Window 3300 x 5700; then just Plop Render; move the view, and plop render, move the view and Plop Redender, etc, etc, (about 20 times.) When you are done you can then composite all of the parts, in Photoshop, without any distortion.
Thank you all for your thoughts and taking time to respond. I'm going to have to make 13 images at this size so I'm looking for the most painless way of doing it. That being said, I think jerr's first solution will work out the best. I tried it and it really doesn't look bad at all. You have to keep in mind that the humongous render doesn't look that huge when you check out the print size in PS. When I get an image put together, I'll post some area check images so you can see what it looks like at the print size and at the actual size if anyone is interested.
