Sorry if this has already been posted.

Looks like Lightroom is out of beta. See: http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshoplightroom/

The introductory price appears to be $199, with the regular price being $299.

Thing is, I used the last beta, and I wasn't too happy with it. It was primarily the speed, and I don't have a bad computer at all. I still find Canon's Digital Photo Professional to be quicker and easier to use.

For those that do like it, there's your price point. :)

This might be just pre-order, I'm not sure.

Adobe lightroom is all I use anymore on all my images.
It is slow on my machine as well and had a bit of a learning curve for me. I find I like the results better then Canons digital photo pro. But you are right Canon software is much faster and does not bring your machine to a crawl lol

I am using the beta version of lightroom. I wonder if the new one is any faster?

I hope it is quicker as I  too found the Beta version slow whilst I do prefer other ways to handle Raw images, there is no doubt it can help organise me, no mean feat!!

Until I am able to get "service pack 2" to load and not crash my pc...I am out of luck on Lightroom. So...tell me what it REALLY does.   I do have Rawshooter (full version) for raw and still prefer that one to the Photoshop method.  But, since Adobe grabbed up Rawshooter...see any common ground there?        TomD'Art.

Tom have you checked in the Hardware/Technical forum?  I recall your problems before with service pack 2, and your gear is similar to my own and I  did not have any problems.. Yes I do believe that the rawshooter style of raw handling is intended to be part of Adobe new workflow..

According to Adobe, the theory behind Lightroom is to provide a single environment that has all of the functions photographers most commonly need to perform on their images. Lightbox includes tools for importing, organizing, correcting, printing and showcasing large volumes of digital images.

Hi All,

Since I posted my original message, I went and grabbed the latest Beta, and then watched some of the video tutorials. Then a lightbulb went on! Since writing the original message, I've imported about half of my photos into Lightroom, properly keyworded, and I have to say (despite the speed issue in the beta) that I'm hooked. It's amazing what a couple of days can do :)

I'll be buying the final now. It looks like version 1.0 has a couple of other cool features, judging from the video tutorials on adobe's site (such as "stacks", which shows you 1 thumbnail for different versions of a picture, which you can then expand to see all versions, very neat).

Thats a feature in the almost 1 year old (Apple) Aperture. http://www.apple.com/aperture/ I'm fine using Aperture its an awesome RAW image organizer/editor which is great for my needs.

Question the question. Answer the question. Question the answer...

I wish I knew what I was gonna say :oP

If I had a MAC I'd definately be using Aperture. On a PC now tho :)
