Blender F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 23 6:26 am)
I've been using MakeHuman for a while -- it is quite useable, but not too polished. Version 9 is the first really usable version. You can find MakeHuman at Sourceforge.org. Just type in MakeHuman in the search box. I down loaded it from there with dial-up.
The models are low polly, and I believe there is python script to rig the figures once they are imported into Blender. You can pose them in MakeHuman, and then do minimal rigging in Blender, or you can import them into Blender, rig the figures, and then subsurface the result before rendering.
The interface is intuitive, and gives a good idea of where the project is headed if its developers don't burn out. If you went to their website you probably saw the animation with the programmer beating himself to death on a keyboard.
One final thing in an already too long response. The models are very good despite being low poly. The muscles deform realistically when posed in MakeHuman. The MakeHuman people are artists who program in contrast to the Poser people who are programers who do art. This last is may opinion -- no flames pleas.
Hi again, Blenderers.
I's a bin busy t'day. I have done what Fred said and MakeHuman is quite amazing and I hope that it goes further in its development. I must apologize as the installer is only 42mb, not over a 100mb as I said earlier. Go download and enjoy it!
For the MacOS version I found some items to remember: the installer will give you some errors. Ignore them. All you will find is an exe in the macos directory- just double click it. (It will make sense when you try!)
Hope it helps!

Hello all, You might want to know that someone has found a way of importing a MakeHuman figure into Poser [and by extension Bryce I suspect - not checked though] and being able to pose said Figure [the techninque to allow this seems long winded but works from what others have said - in Posr mind]. As for the figures being Low Poly, you could allways import in Wings3d & bump up the subdivison. Regards

Hi Blenderers!
I have found MakeHuman 0.9.0 on the internet while looking for 3D sources. Briefly, it looks like it is meant to be a Poser/DAZ|Studio type app for Blender. I have not downloaded it yet (the downloads on the site are problematic, and it is over 100mb). So, my questions are: has anyone looked at it, is it any good- as in worth the download and is there any hope for it and its development?
Thanks,
VRG
