Subject: (OT) Anna Nicole Smith Dead at 39

Acadia ( ) posted Thu, 08 February 2007 at 4:51 PM · edited Sat, 11 January 2025 at 12:46 AM

Anna Nicole Smith collapsed in a Florida casino this afternoon.  Cause is unknown at this time but they will do an autopsy tomorrow.

I am not a fan but I was sure shocked when I heard.

OMG! First her son and now her. Oh her poor baby girl :-(

we need the peace of God standing guard over our hearts and minds.

Yeah, poor thing. She doesn't even know who her biological father is at this point so custody of the child is up in the air.

There is all kinds of speculation about cause of death.  She had been taking that diet drug TrimSpa and lost a whole bunch of weight, but the main drug in the diet pill was "ephedrine" which has been proven to be dangerous and cause heart problems and has been banned, but not at the time she was taking it.  It's also possible that she was still taking it to lose  her baby weight.

I've also heard something about "foul play" because she was apparently awarded  millions by the courts from her late husband's estate a day or two ago.

Also, she apparently  had a private nurse travelling with her so it's possible that she was ill.

It also could be self inflicted because she has a history of depression and she has had a whole lot of stress and grief and high pressure on her for a long time now and it was only compounded with the death of her son.

The first thing that came to my mind was drug overdose because whenever I've seen her on Entertainment Tonight she looks and sounds like she's stoned/high. But it could be that she was like that because of her anti-depressants.

our sincere condolences to her friends and family. the legal case is extremely convoluted. at time of death, she still hadn't received a ruling to grant her the money from her deceased husband's estate.

And this is significant for what reason??

Because now Elton John gets to write a third version of "Candle in the Wind," perhaps?

Shocked?  How the hell were you shocked?  Given her history with drug and alcohol abuse, how is this shocking, or even surprising?

Yes, one must feel sorry for the child.

Let's see...at last count, three men have now stepped forward claiming to be the biological father and potential winner of half a billion dollars.  I wonder who will next week...Tom Cruise or Mel Gibson, perhaps?

Madonna?

You don't count several deaths in rapid succession as significant? 1st E.P. Marshall dies, then Anna's son and then herself with all involved in a battle for millions of dollars and that's not enough motive? I suppose what you would need is for Deep Throat to whisper "Follow the money" in your ear to consider it significant?

If it was just from a drug overdose wouldn't you think it would have been easy to establish in the initial autopsy? They didn't find any obvious cause of death and have to do more in depth tests. I would call that evidence that it was of more significance than just a case of self destruction.

Well, then of course there's gonna be all the conspiracy theories.

Did you see in today's headlines those photos of her in the sack with the Bahamian Immigration Minister?  Is there anyone who hasn't slept with her...besides Tom?

:)

This is a sick, real-life soap opera; the stuff that makes Jerry Springer a hit.  I still feel sorry for the kid though.  For the rest of her life the media will be on her like flies following a constipated Saint Bernard.

The dead billionaire husband.  It's been suggested that he could be the father since she had frozen his sperm before he died.
(donning cloak and dagger) - if you want to secure a few hundred million settlement from the family, that would be a good way, eh?

No.  Coincidence until proved otherwise. But still, even if it wasn't, why should it matter to me?  I don't know those people. Were they personal friends or acquaintances of anybody here? If so, accept my condolences, if not, then it's just more celebrity toss in a world overrun with it.

Unless, of course, it turns out she blew up the WTC in cahoots with GWB and the aliens from Area 51.

The conspiracy theories still abound over the death of Princess Diana.  Why not over Anna Nicole?  The tabloids have gotta have something to talk about........

If the story runs true to form, then this will likely be a hot topic for a month or three.  And then the subject will be largely forgotten about.

How many people these days talk about the death of Sharon Tate?  Or of Thelma Todd?  For that matter -- outside of some old movie buffs -- how many people nowadays even know who Thelma Todd was?  Even though she was a huge star during her own generation?

Life in this world -- and fame -- are like mist.  I believe that the ancient Japanese used to call it "the dream of a butterfly".

Anna Nicole is gone.  Now the circling vultures can fight over her money -- and over her corpse.  Which they are doing -- for the entertainment of the public.  Greta Van Susteren will be on the case for several more weeks at least.

BTW - if Anna Nicole had been ugly (or plain), then we'd never hear about her death on Greta's show.  Or in the rest of the press, for that matter.  But Anna was attractive (at least she used to be), and she was blonde -- so her death makes for great copy.

((If Elizabeth Smart had been ugly, then we wouldn't have heard much of anything about her story, either.  Or about that girl who disappeared in Aruba.))

The whole thing is both morbid and sad.

I think that I've heard that 5(?) different men now claim to be the father of Anna's daughter.  (?)  And as everyone knows -- to legitimize the claim to the child is to lay claim to the money.

Oh, yeah.......I wonder why the great Sir Elton has never sung a song about the death of Jane Smith?

(No relation to Anna Nicole.)

I try to avoid Greta Van Susteren's show as much as possible. She's a little nuts I think.

I met Anna Nicole many years ago before she was famous. She was just a little Texas girl who liked Wolf Brand chili and was nice and sweet, though she struck me as a person who was very lost, with no direction at all and no clue. I suspect she actually loved the old guy she married. But I think she was one of those people who just can't handle fame. It destroys some people, and obviously it destroyed her. SDhe idolized Marilyn Monroe, how ironic she should die the same way.

It's interesting to note that about the only one of the major 50's-era "blonde bombshell" types (Marilyn Monroe, Jayne Mansfield, Mamie Van Doren.....et al) who has survived into old age is Mamie Van Doren.  In fact, when Jayne Mansfield died she was filling in for Mamie Van Doren at a time when Van Doren couldn't get to one of her shows in Mississippi.

A large number of 50's-era rock 'n rollers died from various bad causes, too.  Or led tragic lives.  In fact, a lot of them from any era tend to do the same thing.

Simple - there's no money to be made with a song about the death of a "normal" person - only the (in)famous.

Amazing, isn't it, how, as a society we lavish so much of our attention on spoiled, self-indulgent celebrities while we ignore what really matters, like global warming, neglected and abused children, the plight of the homeless, and

OH MY GOD!!!!!  BRITNEY SHAVED HER HEAD!!!!! Gotta go - E! has an online exclusive.....
