Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 18 10:25 pm)
Hey bopperthijs
I was just wanting to experiment with an idea I had. If I were to be able to get a section of hi-res mesh of say V4s' thigh, and then in Poser clothify her thigh, I'd like to experiment with being able to press on the thigh to see if it would give realistically. I may have no hope in this but I thought I would at least ask to see if it were possible. I can do this test without the hi-res part but if the poly count is not high enough, it won't respond very realistically. I suspect it would be rather faceted. Just thought it would be something to try.
As far as the original mesh, I would inject what I wanted before I exported it to 3DS. Another concern I had was what it might do to the texturing. Would the texture still fit right.
Thanks!
Nebula

The Poser Tool Box could do it all within Poser and retain the UV mapping. However I doubt if it would be required since the original mesh may give you what you want.

You can try PoseRay. It uses smooth Loop subdivision keeping the UV mapping. See the gallery on the site for a simple example.good luck,

Hi Nebula,
I think that what you want to do is possible, i think you have to set the cloth density to zero or a very low value, otherwise the bodypart sags to the floor, and some rubberish simulation-settings. There is a tutorial about clothifing bodyparts of Raj d'Arge in the tutorial (I think it's called : soft bodies in Poser or similar (nudity!) ), I've tried it but it never worked for me, perhaps I have to try harder. I've done a lot of simulations in the clothroom last days with my Canvas-chair, and I'm starting to believe that the possibilities of the clothroom are much greater than just using it only for simulating blouses, skirts and dresses on a windy day. Just read the threads about conforming clothes, and you know what I mean. BTW, you don't need too much polygons for a simuation, but I agree with you that the mesh of V4 has perhaps too little polygons, I would start with one subdivision if the standard mesh won't give satisfying results, be aware that too many polygons would take forever too simulate. Please let us know what your experiences are.
Regards,
Thijs

Hello,
I am wanting to increase the poly count of some body part(s) on V4. Is it possible to export V4 and bring her into 3DSMax6. Then select a body part(s) (mesh) and tell 3DS to double or quadruple the poly count of the selected area in order to increase the mesh resolution? I am not so concerned about file size. I know its going to grow. I then want to be able to export her and bring her back into Poser for animating. Is this possible?
Thanks,
Nebula
