My 2 cents...DOH! Pun intended. I tested these coin sets for the MarketPlace and I must say they are very very well done. They render at very high detail levels. But, pdblake always impresses me with his/her work. ;) Clint

That's his Clint. They took a long time and are my first ever texture sets (save the one's that come with my props), but I must say that I am quite proud of the job. Thanks for testing them:)

No they are professional photographs, a friend of mine has lent me his very, very, very large coin collection, and another friend is photographing the best ones (the ones that show most detail that is - I personally wouldn't know a good coin from a bad one, or tell one from another either to be honest).

Incidentally I intend to do a few more sets yet, the rest of the US coins for a start, followed by Old English, then french then some much older stuff such as roman and greek coins (taken from reproductions - not sure you could still get you're hands on real ones:)

You can get real coins which are quite ancient. (I have a Phoenician coin which is quite old, and it wasn't that expensive.) Coins in common use (like our small change) are available from many sources (check the internet to see the catalogs). However, they are worn rather than the minty-fresh specimens you are using. It depends upon purpose. If you have a merchant in a Moroccan bazaar or a Viking coming back from Mikligardi with a chestful of Arabian silver, you don't want mint, you want character. Carolly

You're in luck jjsemp. The collection I have on loan boasts quite a lot of victorian coins and a sizeable collection of gold sovereigns of all eras. I will do a special set of victorian sovereigns some time this week.
