I'd love to see some pics of your collection.
Btw, I saw on Ebay there's a Hemingray Amber Lowex Insulator for sale for under 10 bucks. The link's about a mile long or I'd paste it here, lol. Found it through Google.
These insulators are beautiful objects. I remember when I was 9yrs. old I tried to get one off a pole by the railroad tracks. Gashed my thumb while climbing the pole and never made it to the top luckily!
Well, anyway I'm glad you didn't execute the cats! ;) How bout some pics of them too? :)

I checked both Google and eBay. The only auctions were already completed.
I'd be really shocked to see someone selling an Amber Lowex for that little ... unless it was damaged.
The Honey Amber Lowex usually goes for $25 and up, the Olive Amber usually for $40 and up. Some amber Lowexs (the ones with no stamp) usually go for $100 to $125.
So, if it's out there, it's a bargain. But, when I searched eBay yesterday, they had no Lowex insulators listed.
There are a number of pictures of the cats in my gallery, and I think people would execute me if I started posting all of them here. But, I might be persuaded to post something of the insulators.
Could be worse, could be raining.
LOL! What the heck are Honey Amber Lowex etc????

I mostly have insulators in carnival glass (also called a Mardi Gras type), amber, 7UP green, deep purple and various shades of blue.
The Lowex is also sometimes called a "Bull Frog" because it looks a little like one with eyes bulging out of the top.

*This one is a Hemingray Mickey Mouse .... You can see why it's called that.
*er...well actually.............no...

Looks more like the screw top from a Hot Water Bottle......;-)
Incidently, if we're on the subject of misbehaving cats..................we've just had our garden landscaped...which means the digger moved all the earth into the right place but we haven't planted anything yet. So the whole garden is a mudbath atm.
Our cat, Popeth, goes out and walks around the garden, comes in and then walks all over my desk leaving muddy pawprints.............suggestions as to how I can stop this happening short of either compacting our timetable of garden planting or killing the cat would be very much appreciated..................

As I see it there are only two things you can do. Either keep the cat indoors until you are ready to plant (which would involve getting and making the cat use a litter box), or invest in a "scat mat" which would keep the cat off of the desk. An alternative to a scat mat would be to cover the desk with something your cat does not like (tin foil works for most of my cats). I don't mean upholstering it .... just putting a few sheets over stuff when you aren't there to supervise.
And, you're right ... it does sort of look like the top of an old hot water bottle.

Ricky: Thanks for the advice. I'm going to kill the cat.......
Ahhh, I have some shot glasses made from insulators...=)
Now what does that tell us about Jan?

No, it tells us that Bryce can drive you to drink.............
I'm more likely to compact the cat..............

Death .... that's why their breaking that one nearly broke my heart. The deep amber of the Honey Amber Lowex is just so beautiful. I want to keep them out because I love how the sun looks passing through them.
However, I may have to find a way to build some shelves in front of the office window so that I can put my collection there ... out of harms way (no cats allowed in the office).

You could always glue them to the shelf or whatever........the glass that is, not the cats.

Somebody got out of control last night and shattered my beautiful Hemingray Amber Lowex Insulator. I don't know if any of you are insulator collectors, but the Amber Lowex is one of the prettiest ... the color is just so nice.
If I was going to participate in the glass render (which I don't have time for), I would probably model and render my Lowex, my Aqua Mickey, and my Australian Purple UFO.
Anyway ... as luck would have it, I found someone online who is willing to sell me one out of their collection ... so no cats will have to be executed for this dasterdly deed.
