Subject: Looking for a Utility or software to replace drive letters on cr2' and pz3

lululee ( ) posted Thu, 08 March 2007 at 6:16 PM · edited Sun, 22 December 2024 at 8:45 PM

I changed computers. All of the drive letters are now incorrect in cr2's and actual pz3 files. I used to use Multireplace but it does not seem to be working. the drive letters are D: and it tells me they are wildcards. I have no clue what that means.
If you know of a utility or software that would work for this I would appreciate it.

CRPro in the marketplace will do that and more. It's an excellent utility and a must have.

It's all fun and games...

Like Mystic-Nights posted,EditPad or EditPad Pro will do batch replacements.  I use EditPad Pro and wouldn't be without it.

CRPro functionality !! ?

" Intelligently move or copy content and dependant files to another runtime or folder in a similar way to making a zip."

Is this by chance the solution for painlessly building and organizing runtimes?

I use PSPad (freeware) and I love it. I handles multiple replacements in as many files as you want, through subfolders, etc. AMONG other things!

http://www.pspad.com/

But why don't you replace the whole pathname with this kind of pathname ":Runtime:textures:folder:filename" and :Runtime:Geometries:folder:filename ?? Then you can change your drive letters as often as you want and never have any problem.

OR

You can easily assign new drive letters to your drives and have the same letters you had on your other computer. That's what I did 2 weeks ago when my computer went to the hospital and I bought a used one as a spare. Not because of my Poser files because they are all using the pathnames I suggested, but for all my other programs.

That's a good point Francemi. And if you are distributing freebies or commercial products the paths should be setup that way.

If you are on a Mac, textwrangler will do batch find and replace so you don't feel left out. I used it just 2 days ago to convert a P4 hr2 file that had c: references in it and batch remove several hundred to :.

Wow. Good suggestion, grichter. I'm a long-term BBedit user currently not looking forward to fixing a bunch of texture paths that Poser (as is its wont) saved incorrectly. Switching to TextWrangler sounds like it will let me automate that process. Yippee!

I use notepad but it's time consuming.

In case it's not too late, you can change drive letters if it is windows. That might actually be the easiest way:)

I have an E: drive that has all of my poser stuff. When I move to a different system, it will stay E:/ even if it get's moved to a different disk.
