Hello all, I did a close up test render of a figure, and I noticed these...odd lines running across the figure's face.  I removed everything but the face morph (KBK Xiaoxiao), but the lines still persisted.  They look rather like a topographical map of her face, and it's rather annoying.  Has anyone else seen these/know how to get rid of them?  There is no textures at all on the face as it is.

are you using depth mapped shadows by any chance ? I've seen similar on my renders when I'm using 'em.  I tend to increase the shadow blur radius which gets rid of them (Or you could use raytraced shadows but they have their own nasties attached)

Hi Frank, I tried changing that (went to ambient occlusions & set everything to zero), but it still showed up...

I normally have the shadow blur radius set to 9.  Give that a go (I rarely use AO - not figured it out yet :) )

I've sometimes seen lines like this when a light is coming from just
slightly behind the surface.  (Off to the side, and a bit beyond 90 degrees
from center.)

It's especially obvious on a plain wall, where there's no question of
leftover morphs or complicated mesh.
