Subject: Does Vue do real time renders ?

RorrKonn ( ) posted Tue, 13 March 2007 at 8:53 AM · edited Sat, 01 February 2025 at 11:02 PM

If Vue does not support real time renders if plugged it in to C4D would it then ?

If ya compared render times to Vue and main apps like LW,C4D etc etc can it keep up ?

none of the normal 3d apps can do Real tiem render, none of them
however....i saw articles in 3d world magazine, a company is working on real time rendering with a brand new engine, forget name, their projected market is automotive at first.

there is a render engine based off game technology been psoted here IIRC, it's very qucik, nto sure if real time though?

anyway, way PC crunching/video power is going, IF the software for art catches up to games, it should be possible, current GAME video cards are amazingly powerful.

TrueSpace has real time renders.

Even if the main apps does not say real time renders if ya have a killer 3D card and a simple scene if ya just captured the scene in stead of rendering it.

Think ya might be able to pull that off.

Would probably look gameish thou.

The TrueSpace brag sheet is very dodgy about that actually:

... for the first time real-time rendering is good enough to provide a photorealistic pre-visualisation of your animations and in some cases for final rendering to video as well.

The realtime aspect is done through DirectX 9, which is neato and all, but is basically game-engine technology, as you say it is likely to look game-like.

and mind you real time rendering will never handle scenes with a few million polygons and high quality lighting. I would be happy with 5 minute render.

as said there is already in the works a rela time renderer that is NOT game quality, but full blown ;)

with increasing CPU power and RAM, real time render for all is a question of WHEN, not IF
:)

oh and Flash memory drives went on sale today iirc, no more hard drive, soild state drives...

of course VUE has no realtime rendering capabilities. It was never intended for.
For most of the scenes, VUE IS intended for, this will be true for the next decades, because, even if computer speed doubles every year, it takes 17 years until VUE would be able to render a film (25/30 fps) in realtime, when a single frame renders one hour today.

3ds max, for instance, doesn't have realtime render capabilities either, but, with a plugin (RTRE) , you can get realtime renders in a kind of preview(low, low) quality.

not just about the hardware, ROger6794, as said company has created a real time renderer, becaus eof better coding.
I don't know though if it would be capable of Vue type scene shtough as from what I've seen it's CAD/automotive use aimed.
