Yeah, that silly looking mesh I used in the Ivy Generator was modeled in Bryce, collapsed and exported out. So, works fine so far for me.
*extra edges everywhere and odd places with holes
-What resolution are you using when you collapse your primitive group?

It's not a primative group, it's a model originally made in wings and then imported into bryce, had materials applied to it, then saved as a Bryce *.obp - I originally had the wings version and the *.obj file as well, but when all was stolen, all I have left are these *.obp's from Bryce...
Er... resolution? Where's that?

Ah. Don't know how you got it out as a dxf in the frst place...B61 is meant to export really only its own made meshes.
Well, in your case, really the only way to get it out is the OLD way of selecting the mesh, Click the E to the side of said mesh, when the smoothing window comes up, you hit Ctrl+D, then an export window will come up.
Export away.

AS,

Ah, now I had heard of this before, but I completely forgot about it.
How I exported stuff was, first I had to ungroup everything, then I re-grouped, that enabled me to "C"ollapse, which then allowed the export function to be used. Otherwise it's greyed out.
Trying it now...

Doesn't work. Bryce immediately stops responding and stays like that for.... hours. Unless you ctrl alt del, and stop it.

How big is this mesh? (how many polys?)
Yeah, the collapsing method is going to change the polys every time, best way to get it out of Bryce looking thee way it went in is to make the Ctrl+D method work.. ;o(

That's the one I did. Just an hour ago I stopped the unresponsive Bryce. It's 51692 polys. Is that big?

Not truly. I thought it would be big enough to take a LONG time, and make Bryce look like it was hanging for an hour, but I don't believe that's just not big enough do do that.
Unless its made out of 8,600 cubes? Lol....
I might even try exporting it again, and leaving it overnight, seee if it can finally "figure" it out. May be a bit strange, but options are running thin....

I've managed to export one of the models, the one I mentioned at 51692 polys. But I had to export it as a 3ds file and I had to not rename it, just let it be saved as "4 button handle" - wierd that!
But I've been continually trying to export the larger ship, and Bryce won't even begin to do anything with it, when the other ship did export there was a progress bar that whipped along continually exporting something.
The bigger one doesn't even begin, so jelisa, if you're still okay to look at it for me, I'll email you a copy of the bryce .obp at the weekend, can't do it before then, I don't think... um... maybe I can though if I save it tonight to my pendrive...
Yeah, I'll have a go at sending it tomorrow - if that's still okay?

bryce 6.1 will and i have tried this many times only export small booleans anything too complex and it crashes also it can and will make a real mess of some if you try to import it back in
my biggest problem is the file sizes in bryce 6 there a lot smaller than bryce 5 but the trade off its that if you zip them up to post in the store you save about 5 megs at the most which is a real pain as my models are pretty file heavy
I could only export one of them - once - with strange hole material everywhere, extra edges - that I never modeled there originally - and the instant ability to crash wings once the .obj file is imported into it...
(sigh)

With scenefile sizes; Yeah, B6 is much smaller than previous versions. With my scenefiles (so far), I have found they do not compress much anymore when zipping them up. Pretty much what they are unzipped, is what they are when zipped.

I was just wondering, does Bryce6.1's export feature work at all?
I'm asking, because having had stuff stolen and got back (from friends) a few of the models but only in bryce's *.obp format, I need to export the models and then correct a few small problems in wings.
Now Bryce6.0.1 just crashed when I tried exporting the model as an *.obj. It allowed me to export as an autocad *.dxf but the model was all mushed up, extra edges everywhere and odd places with holes, not fixable.
So... does export work correctly with Bryce6.1?
Haven't had a chance to try it as I'm working to a fast approaching deadline. Just thought I'd ask.
