THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: please help if you can....

So I recently got the uograded version Bryce 6.1, and when I tried to install it, it asked me if I wanted to uninstall version 6.0.  I did this, and for some reason it failed to install.  Now, I decided that in the meantime while I tried to figure this out I would go back to version 5.5 but now it gives me an appliacation error every time I try to use it.  I didn't tell the computer to uninstall version 5.5, just version 6, but for some I can't use any versions now.  So I tried to reinstall version 5.5 but I get the same application error.  What I think I did was, when I uninstalled version 6 I uninstalled a shared file of some sort.
Anyway, the application error # is 0xc015002.  If anyone has had this problem before and knows a way to fix it please help.  Otherwise I'll have to hire somebody to come and fix athe problem.
Thanks

Something fails to initialize. PErhaps there are registry entries which contain information such as the location of a Temp folder used by Bryce and located in the Bryce install folder. If it's been uninstalled, then the registry may now be pointing to a non-existing folder. Attempting to open some files that are needed when launching the app would then fail. The app might be smart enough to try and create a new Temp folder where needed, but it may fail to do so if the higher-up folder is missing too.

That's just one scenario, but you might want to check in the system registry if there's a group of entries for Bryce 6 pointing to Bryce 5 folders or the other way around. I'd completely remove the install folder and the registry, then reboot, then re-install.

Check also in Google for 0xc015002 - there's a number of people who have seen the same error before, you might find a way to fix it from there.

I wouldnt hire anyone. Im sure we could help you fix it.

Have you tried using the System Restore feature in windows ? You might be able to go back to a point before you uninstalled v6. Also, I recommend making a backup of the registry before you alter anything in it.
I hope this helps !

Uh oh :(  There were explicit instructions at Daz3D about how to install Bryce6.1.   It had you doing  a few things that I never would have thought of and I would have messed up my install completely.  I wonder if this is what happened to you.  Check here and read how to install and see if you can find where it  went wrong:

I followed it to the letter and had no problems.

Thanks everyone for your help!  Turns out system restore worked and I was able to reinstall 5.5....hopefully now I can reinstall 6.1 as well!
Thanks again!

Just an interesting note.  I installed Bryce 6.1 on my PC which has Bryce 5 installed...but there was no conflict which I guess its because Bryce 5 is a Metacreations/Corel Product.
