THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Copy and Paste Material

briggsbob ( ) posted Fri, 06 April 2007 at 9:30 AM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 2:27 PM

For years I have used Ctrl-Alt-C to copy a material from one object and a Ctrl-Alt-V to paste the material on another. Today this key command has stopped working for me and I have to resort to the commands in the Edit column. So far I have not seen evidence of any other key commands that do not work.    ( bryce 6.1....Windows XP)

Any suggestions as to how I can correct the situation ?

Bob

Hrm, how long have you had B6.1 installed? Did this key combination work with 6.1?

It appears that it is only the CTRL-ALT-V command by keyboard that is not doing what it should. The CTRL-ALT-C by keyboard seems to work. If I do the Material Copy by keyboard and the Material Paste by the EDIT column I get good results. I think this would show it is NOT a problem with my particular keyboard.

I have used B6.1 since the day it became available and this problem did not exist until yesterday.

Could be you have keys that are not working as they should.

  1. I just loaded Bryce 6.1
  2. added a couple of spheres
  3. Added Material to one sphere.
  4. used CTRL-ALT(LEFT)-C on Sphere 1
  5. used CTRL-ALT(LEFT)-V on Sphere 2

and the material copied.

I exited the program...cleared my clip board and repeated the process used the ALT(Right)

If you have a desktop you should have two ALT keys... please try both the LEFT and RIGHT for testing.

check your caps lock key...?  that's based on a very very dim memory of a similar problem from years and years ago....

try ctrl +D to duplicate an object....   then you just move the new object to were you want it..
