"I want to be what I was
when I wanted to be what I am now"
The Bryce manual is useful. I agree, at $30 a cartridge, it's a lot of ink. Just print what you need in terms of chapters. Over time the whole manual will probably be printed.
Almost every bump, circle, shape in a Bryce menu will probably be something that will have lots of settings behind it.
I get my ink cart from Choice Stationery here in the UK. Colour carts from about £3.50 each. Don't you have someone like that in the USA?

No, I get mine from either staples, wall-Mart, Futureshop. They all range in same price, no matter where I go. Also I live in Canada.
The thing about printers here. They are close to being free when in Box purchase and your paying for the Ink cartridge, and printer included it the way it goes now a days (The way I see it). Comes with a color ink cartridge which ranges to about $30-$40 ($50 and came with a color ink cartridge). Printers range in Price starting at $50 (Cheapest, but does good) like what I have is a Lexmark Z611. Never thought about printing out manuals from it. Have it for one or a few page document, letters, mail, envelopes. I did have an 8in1 printer and I will never purchase those again. When the printer head is gone, that is it. I know nothing about fixing a printer. Paid nearly $1000 for it, and 2 years later, all it was good for was sending a fax, scanner, and phone. The copying, printing couldn't be done, and other features. After I found out the cost to fix, all it did was sit on a table for years, and next thing I ended up throwing it out in the garbage.
Robo;
Fellow Albertan here(Calgary), in the malls here we have these little mall stands that you can take a spent cartridge to and they will re-fill it for you at a fraction of the price(colour included). Don't have anything like that in the City of Champions?. Can't remember the business name off hand as I havent used it in a while. Was south of the border a while back and found the same kit they use to fill the cartridges and bought it for about 40CAD, have filled my cartridges 3 times now and probably have enough to do at least 5 or 6 more. Gets a little messy at times when doing the fill but is well worth it.
Oh yea question 5: Along with your install of Bryce you should have been asked to also install DAZ Studio,(I dont have B6 but I'm assuming its the same as B5.5 which I use) if you have done so this is were you you can edit your V3/ M3. Just click on the large "D" icon at the top of the GUI when in edit mode and that will bring up Daz Studio. Do all you poser figure editing there and then click on the Bryce Icon and your poser model will appear in Bryce.
The turning point for printers was when they removed the Processor Chips and became OS Dependant, which meant you needed a slightly better processor. This lack of CHIP reduced the Printer price by $50. So a typical $150+ Printer dropped down in price to $100.
Than came the really Cheap printer era, where it was easier to throw out the printer and buy a new one rather than buy the ink.
Now it has come to another level...manufacturers caught on quick. So now when you a printer. The Injket Cartridge is only half capacity of a normal one.
I no longer use my Epson printer which took two cartridges at a whopping price of $91 Canadian for that you can buy two lexmark printers.

It depends where and what brand of printer you buy. HP printers have a lot of 3rd party companies making huge ink cartidges. Instead of replacing a small cart, there are some places that make a special cart you put in the printer, there's a tube that gets ink from a large container and feeds that to the modified ink cart.
I like epson printing resolusions, but the cost of their replacement inks is like high and I think they use smart ink carts too.. where the printer detects the level of ink and if you manually refill it, it doesn't count it.. prevents the internal counter from printing from that refilled ink cart.
I often stick with canon printers now. When I did my Masters degree, I printed everything. PDF versions of the books, 500 pages on a weekend, my own papers, research articles. I easily did close to 800 pages a week for three years. Went through two canon printers... one because i could no longer find a replacement ink head when magenta got into the yellow.
Used to go to Sams Club wholesale place to buy replacement carts for about $19. Then I think they got some deal going with epson and started to sell their printers and stopped the refill things. Switched to walmart for refills, they have some for $6. There's an inkjet place in town.. "Mr Inkjet" which I've been wanting to try visiting for years. Hrm
@Bryster: Have Choice been alright for you? They're cheap alright so I bought loads at once, but then came to use them and found all the combined colour cartridges (I have an Epson) to be missing a colour! I wasn't exactly impressed. I've since discovered TESCO do their own Epson compatibles, and since I give them practically all my money anyway... : )
Alex: I have had very little trouble with Choice. I use nothing else for all 4 of my Epsons.
There was a problem when they started sending out THINK carts but they sorted that out for me and gave me a complimentary re-order. Since then - no probs!
I have noticed that the colour can vary slightly, but not enough to worry about. I can order them on-line and get them in less than a week, three days is usual.
The price is good too. You can often get bonus carts with big orders, which is handy 'cos I use loads of them in my line of business.

If you want a great book for Bryce look out for a copy of the Bryce Bible which is Susan Kitchen's "Real World Bryce 4" - I think they might be out of print but as it's good for all bryces including 6 - although some bits of Bryce6 will be missing since collapsing and exporting boleans and using IBL were not possible when it was written, it still has a massive mine of information tucked inside its covers. Well worth it IMO.

I purchased Bryce 6.1, and from using Poser-Pro, Poser5, Poser6, then now jumped onto Bryce 6.1, all I can say is, I am very impressed. Played around with a few features, did a render, imported, exported and other fun stuff.
Questions:
1.) How in the world do you rotate objects. (cars, landscapes, anything).
2.) Like to know how to use/make materials, but first I like to use a car, and have that paint look.
3.) Dunno about lighting yet.
4.) How do you make landscapes and use it in Bryce. I noticed you can purchase landscapes at DAZ and here. Can they be done in Bryce. Yes, I seen the landscape that come with Bryce 6.1. But I am looking for that one (Grand Canyon, with a good walk path).
5.) Can V3, M3 and outfits be used in Bryce and are they posable in Bryce 6.1? How? Can anything be posable in Bryce?
Their is tutorials at DAZ, and here at renderosity, but even for a newbie, I am having problems following.
I downloaded the PDF manual for Bryce 6.1 and over 1000 pages is not my kinda thing when it comes to reading on the monitor. A book yes...on a computer no..I will have to find a way to print this manual out (100 pages a day). Many ink cartridges going to be costly ($30 each). Any one see a Bryce 6.1 manual in the stores? DAZ doesn't have em on the market I noticed.
