Subject: OT but need help with XP

Yes, it works. Maybe try pasting the link into your address bar and see if that works.
Here are the instructions:
Click Start, Run and type CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2
Click Ok
Select the user account from the list (the account to which you want to automatically logon).
Uncheck Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer option
Click Ok
Type the user account password and complete the process.
For Windows XP Home apparently if you try to auto login to the built in admin account you get an error message.

I hadn't set a password when I set up Windows so I didn't have a problem with having to login. However I decided to try that Synctoy program to backup files on a daily basis, and it requires a password. So after that I had to login each time and I didn't at all like that, LOL

I'd not entered a Windows PW either, but it seems (according to the linked XP Tips site) that one of the recent XP updates modifies the pgm to require a stop at that dialog box during boot-up. Could no longer just hit the ON button & walk away until done booting --- not a big hassle , but annoying none the less. Glad to have it back to normal once again. :-)

For some reason my computer is going to the logout screen where it tells you to hit your name if you want to login everytime the screen saver goes on. Don't remember changing anything except installing Spy Sweeper. Anyone out there that can give me a quick tip on how to stop it from doing that?
