This site has a bunch of links to free hosts sorted by the type of ad they do (and this site has a couple of popups, go figure). I've messed a bit with graffiti.net and freeservers, but not much. Graffiti.net seems to be a bit slow, so you may want to pass on them. Hope that helps!Attached Link: http://www.netcolony.com/new.html
But which of these gives plenty of space and also is suitable for renderosity stuff? or example, I just tried Netcolony, and their rules list says:-We will definitely remove your site for: Sending any unsolicited e-mail, Erh?? I can understand a "no spam" rule, but this goes far beyond that. In almost any exchange of emails, the first message is unsolicited!! or posting to newsgroups with a Netcolony address, or if it's pointing to your page. Someone translate this last line please. - Displaying material containing nudity or pornographic material of any kind. I can understand a rule against porn, but what about simple nudity such as is often seen on Renderosity? ... - Netcolony is providing free web space for your web pages, we do not allow our web space to be a "file storage" for downloads linked from other pages, or displayed on other pages. Well, that shovels that into the incinerator.
Tripod probably deleted your site. You arent allowed to serve files from it or show any nudity whatsoever. I had 2 renders which showed partial nudity and they deleted my site without warning and locked me out of my account. If you link from renderosity to any freestuff hosted on your site theyll also delete it because I think they automatically analyze the referring pages. Currently I'm hosting it with www.100megsfree.com but they also have some conditions. Your best bet for hosting that has NO CONDITIONS at all (hey they dont even have TOS) is probably www.freehost.nu They aren't the fastest web space provider but apparently they dont care about what you do with the space.
I just went to www.freehost.no and they said they only provide 5 megabytes.
I looked at www.100megsfree.com and:- http://www.100megsfree.com/terms.shtml proved to be an lot of lawywers' glossolalia about liabliity and copyright but nothing which is relevant here. http://www.100megsfree.com/faq.shtml says [We ban] adult material, violence, racism, warez, mp3, emulators, or appz sites. I sympathise with most of those, but what are "mp3" and "emulators" and "appz"? Also we do not allow our members to store files that are used on other webpages. Does that forbid the sort of use that storing stuff for the Renderosity Poser Free Stuff would need?
Yeah, I forgot to mention that I use 100megsfree as my Gallery space, and freehost.nu to host any files that may violate another sites terms of service. www.freehost.nu is hilarious -- they dont even have a terms of service. you just go to a page when you enter your username and password and poof youre in. hehe. only drawback is that its a mite sluggish in peak hours.
www.freehost.nu DO have terms of service. Here they are: Terms and Conditions There are a few simple rules that you must follow or your account will be deleted. No Warez Sites No Adult/Porn/Sex Sites No Spamming No Hate Sites NO Illegal Stuff We can delete your account anytime we want to, for whatever reason we have, and we can not be held liable for any of your actions. Theses terms and conditions can change at anytime. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use our free service.

My hired (paid for) web space on http://www.buckrogers.demon.co.uk/ is only 20 megabytes and got full, so I had to look elsewhere for more space, so I got free web space at the attached link with Tripod. It worked OK for a while, and some of my more recent mesh models are on it. But yesterday (13 May 2001, afternoon by UK time) I looked at my Tripod site and instead I got this:- *Sorry... but the page you are looking for is no longer on Tripod (or you may have mistyped the URL).* and no message to say why this had happened. What's happening?
