I just love indoor pools! Especially up here in the Great White North. Although...it hasn't been too white lately :(

This reminds me of a story I once heard about an English lady and her poodle in Hong Kong. According to the story, she steps into arestaurant for luncheon, and hand the dog's leash to the doorman, with the instruction that he should 'Look after the dog while I dine.'
Half an hour later, they served her up her dog, nicely garnished on a platter.

Actually your news story went like this: A couple from Germany visted Hong Kong and had their pet poodle with them. They decided to dine in a restaurant and when inside gave the waiter their order and asked him to bring a bowl of water for their dog. The waiter could not understand them and they tried to indicate with their hands and fingers pointing at their mouths what they wanted, water for the dog. The waiter picked up the dog and went off with it. Some time passed by and the waiter came back with the dog neatly garnished on a tray. The article ended with.. "The couple have returned back to Germany in a state of shock!"
I heard my version of the story while I was still living in Florida, sometime before I immigrated to Israel in 1973. So my version is 33 years old. Considering the number of poodle owners in the world, and the number of tourist who visit Hong Kong each year, it's more than possible that more than one poodle ended upgarnished on a platter in a Hong Kong restaurant.

Have you walked througha chinese food market (outside of the continental US and/or Europe)? (I haven't, but I have seen travalogues on the Discovery and national Geographic channels). Dogs, cats, mice, beetles, silkworms, cockroaches, -anything that walks, creeps, crawls, or slithers is considered edible and even delicious. I rather doubt that THIS is an urban legend. Rather, I think that it is somethig that has happened quite frequently to unwary tourist to either Hong Kong, or Mainland China.
