Just wanted to let you all know that a few tweaks were made to Renderosity's freestuff area...

1.  Freestuff thumbs are now hosted on Renderosity

2.  Freestuff providers will receive an ebot notification when their freestuff item is approved.

We have more plans for the freestuff area in the future so I will keep you updated:)

So, no more continual checking of the freestuff area to see if your item has been approved - I don't know if that's a good thing or not... ;)

So now a Thumb nail is a MUST .. no thumb not approved ?...

I'm going to check with the programmers to see if they can make sure it works as the gallery does in terms of MUST have a thumbnail

Mmm lets do a short cut .. some one is checking em no ?
So when they are checking it and they have no thumbnail .. dont approve it.. simple :}
No need for programming i think .. more for telling the mods :} to pay attention

Programmes need the time to RESET the freebee providers list on every 1st of the month..
its still not working.

Thumbnails for textures, meshes, poses and morphs - that's OK. I wouldn't mind of those were mandatory.
But what use is a thumbnail for a utility program or a Python script?

For that there can be Basic thumb .. like the "content advice " thumb .. and it can be aplied by the person who check's the freebee ... 

Its all so simple

And when needed i will make the basic tools thumb .. no problem ..

Stacey, I just uploaded a freebie and it told me I had to enter a url for the free item thumb. How do I host the thumb image here?

So you know since it told me to enter the url,  I just used a photobucket link for the image. But I will like in the future to be able to just upload it here as well. So thanks for working on that new feature at least.

They are working on getting the glitch resolved and it should be doing its thing shortly:)

On other trick  for when its not working..
Upload your thum INTO this thread .. upload message..
Then go to EDIT freebee and link to the image HERE in THIS thread..
That way R'O is hosting the image anyway hehehehe

My mad mind does have its bright spots :lol:

Okay the Freestuff thumbnail issue has now been resolved. It works exactly the same way as the galleries and you MUST upload a thumbnail image and it has to be within the size constraints listed as with the gallery:)

Mmm ..so my ANI thumbs are history ? uploading from a other place is not possible anymore?

Or can we still upload thumb that are a on own site's

All your old thumbs are still working properly Bar.  The freestuff thumbs work exactly like gallery thumbs so they are all hosted here from this point on:)

So ? i can't make new ani thumbs anymore only jpg non animated thumbs from now on.?

It's nice that Rendo is now hosting our freebie thumbnails and I thank them.  But I don't like being restricted to a 15 kb size.  Since I'm paying for file locker services, I would rather use it and get a better quality thumbnail. Maybe make this optional?

AND ..... can we still use our own URL for the Thumb... i got no awnser .. 

But i found out the Upload for thumb URL section is gone..
So now we MUST upload to the site .. instead that its a extra option for us ?

I want  be able to upload ani thumbs like i always did.. not taken that away from me because 
others dont have a place to put em themself ....

Its supposed to be coded where you can do it either way. The programmers are working on this sometime this week. Hold tight:)

They can be hosted on here if I make a freebie then I can simply upload it without the need to hunt for a free provider? I'm in process of making textures/props that I'm hoping to share soon. How much is the locker service?

There are two options for File Locker Services.

First one is

• 150 MB of space
• **3 GB/mo.**data transfer
• $5.00 setup fee, $6.95 per month

Thanks, that's not bad a price. Hopefully I'll have the money the end of the month. Def gonna try and do the locker when I can. The first option will fit my budget.

Bear in mind with file locker that popular downloads can suck up the bandwidth within a day.

Say your freebie is 10mb. That means within 300 downloads you've used your 3gb for the month. That's why a lot of providers use the free sharing sites. Megaupload, Rapidshare, etc.

I've a question of a different sort than what is currently being discussed. So forgive my change of subject, but I was wondering if there's ever anyone around to approve new free items overnight at around 2 or 3 am U.S. Eastern time?

I don't know what time that is, Darth, but I usually approve in the morning before I go to work, from 6am-7am GMT. Then I do it again when I get home, so between 5pm-10pm GMT.

On weekend it varies.

Edited to add: I only do Poser. Other mods have their own timeframes, I'm sure.

Im here usually around 2-3 am CST most nights...I try and grab what I can, when I can. Been in and out for the last couple days however...but agreee with Karen, all mods/coords have different time schedules

I dont like 15k thumbs ... hosting thumbs was a extra service ..
But the URL option  for thumbs is gone ..
I like to make some more effort of my thumbs .. i like em to be little ANI's ..
So i want my URL back ... how difficult can it be "programmers" ... 
To put back the load URL option ...

The programmers are aware of this and it is on their list but there are a few things that have taken priority over this.  They will get to it as soon as they can. Rest assured that they will get to this as soon as they possibly can.
