Subject: Problem with P7 and adding new runtime folders

Darboshanski ( ) posted Thu, 07 June 2007 at 1:32 PM · edited Fri, 27 December 2024 at 4:17 PM

I don't know what happened but it seems I can't add new runtime folders to P7 anymore. I tried to add a new one today and link it to P7 but the folder appears in the P7 library but when I click on it there is nothing inside it. I don't get it I've never has this problem before.

My other two runtimes I had created before now are fine but I can't add any more, er I can add then, but the contents to them do not show up after linking it to my P7 program.

Please any help with this would be appreciated!
Thanks!

You're probably adding the wrong folder or your runtime structure isn't correct. Choose the folder that contains the folder named "runtime" when adding the runtime inside poser.

sealtm2 - did you use a different user account in Windows ?  The Poser 7 runtime libraries are stored specific to each user account.

Example:  let's say I have two user accounts on my windows OS computer.  The libraries I add to Poser 7 while in account A ( and then exit Poser),  are not available to me if I switch to Account B and launch poser in account B.

Sorry - a bit in a rush replying but hope you get the idea from my disjointed reply.

I found the problem and it wasn't runtime file structures or any of the above wonderful suggestions I've gotten from both of you it was plain old, becoming brain dead ME. I fear when I become even older I'll be one of those old sods that can't remember who he is and can wonder off without supervision..LOL!

Thanks all.

First step: Select the drive you want your new Runtimes to be on. (External drive or what not). Then create the files that your content will be sent to example:

Poser 7 Runtime

-         Victoria 3

-         Victoria 4

-         Aiko

-         Hair

-         Props

-         Lights

-         Ect

1: If the Poser palette is hidden, click the bar at the right side of the interface to expand it.
2: If the Library Palette opens to display the library titles and not their contents, double-click any library category name (Figures, Cameras, and so on) to display the contents within it.
3: The first folder in the library is usually a special folder, the “up folder.” The arrow on the folder is an indication for you to click on this special to move up to the next highest folder level. To move to the very top, or root, of your currently selected library folder continue click the “up folder” until you see a red dot next to the folder icon. The red dot indicates your currently active Runtime folder, and it also tells you that you are at the top of your library structure, or the root. You can add new Runtime libraries while you are in a root folder.

4: Now that you are in the top-level folder, two icons should appear at the bottom of the Library Palette window: a check mark and a plus sign. When you hover your mouse over the plus icon you see the words “Add Runtime.” Click the plus-sign icon to open the Browse for folders dialog box.

Info Taken from the Practical Poser 7 Book.  Hope it helps
