The link is my recent picture using svdl’s dynamic clothes presented at Carrara Galley. The DCs are V4 Office Set available here at ‘Free Stuff‘. His DCs for V3 also worked nicely for V4, and Aiko with the minor size adjustments.

Thank you svdl for your free high quality DCs.  I like dynamic clothes.

To anyone who is interested in Dynamic Clothes, please present your picture or the link to your gallery with dynamic clothes, and if possible, mention where we can get it.

Thank you,

This is really great KFG!

I'll have to grab these freebies. I'm sure I could scale that shirt to fit Apollo :).

Here are a couple of my own examples:

Ranger of the North (April 1, 2007)
http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=1413775
I used OrcaDesignStudio's free Dynamic Long Cape, available here in the Free Stuff section.

Ororo Munroe (December 22, 2006)
http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=1350123
Again, this is OrcaDesignStudio's Dynamic Long Cape, scaled and possitioned somewhat uniquely.

Ambush (October 22, 2006)
http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=1313836
This is going waaaaay back for me - back when I was a REAL Poser and Photoshop beginner :). I saved P6 James conforming Baggy Jeans to OBJ and ran them through the cloth room for this one.

If we can hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominos will fall like a house of cards...checkmate!

Great image! I'm happy that you enjoy dynamic clothing. It seems to be slowly catching on.

I love dynamic clothing! Much better results with posing and the extra time it takes is sure worth it.

Here is a link to an image I did. The dress is by EnglishBob, and it's a "hybrid" which means the top part is conforming so it fits snug, but the skirt is dynamic.  You work with those the same way, only instead of clothifying the whole outfit, you only clothify the part that is dynamic....the skirt.

Good job, KFG! My first attempt at dynamic clothing was a disaster!. It seems that how the model (V3,etc) is posed really makes a difference in how well the dynamics are calculated. Some laying and sitting poses that I've tried with DC can come up with very bizaar results with the draping.

Thank you very much for many nice pictures.

ClawShrimp,

Very nice pictures, dynamic clothes are good for action pictures.
You will be able to scale that shirt to fit Apollo, and apply a texture or a material.

Corvas,

You are really using dynamic clothes.  They are very nice pictures.

Acadia,

Thank you for showing nice picture, and thank you for your nice comment.
I like dynamic clothes.  I hope more people make, and use them in future.

Cyberscape,

Sometimes, I could not get what I liked, and I had to experiment it many times.  As you point out, I think it depends on the pose. I have not fully understood the dynamics yet.
But, I like it, and it is worth spending time.

operaguy,

Thank you for the nice picture, and animation.
I think dynamic clothes are especially good for animation.
I like your animation. Very nice!  If you make animation in future, please let me know.

I am thinking to use dynamic clothes for animation in future.
I have a simple animation using dynamic clothes.

Not actual modelling no.  But there is a tutorial here in the tutorials area on how to turn conforming clothing into dynamic ones.

However, if you have Poser 6 you can use conforming clothing in the cloth room. Here is a thread that shows you how.

http://www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/showthread.php?thread_id=2517340&page=1
Unfortunately it doesn't work in Poser 5.  It was actually the reason I upgraded to Poser 6. I love the cloth room and that was a feature that was a must have for me.

I don't have Poser 7 so I don't know if it works in there. It should, maybe someone can verify that though.

I second your thoughts about dynamic clothing and also echo a big thankyou to svdl.

I also advise you to search out the excellent dynamic freebies by Carib98, Mapps (both here at R'osity) and the free and for-sale stuff by karanta (poserpros and content paradise).

I think my favorite dynamic thing is Oliver's Heart Poncho at RDNA.

I guess it depends on what you mean by "most."  I'm not a cloth room guru in fact far from it, but I have successfully used a number of skirts/dresses in the material room that were conforming, just because I clothified the hip.

So far as pants and tops go.... I don't know if you can turn them into a hybrid in the cloth room or not. I suspect you would have to turn the whole thing into a dynamic item using the tutorial found in the tutorial area here.

Here is a render of my latest attempt using the Flamenco dress from Daz.  The skirts are great but even with their morphs are limited in their posing and as with all conforming billowy skirs/dresses, the skirt part always looks "posed" and stiff on a conforming item.  I clothified the hip of the skirt and used the edit constrained group to add pins in 5 places at the front of the skirt.... you can add them all the way around the top of the skirt though, which would probably be better.  Then I ran the simulation.  It worked really well with the exception of the fact that I could have done with another pin at the hip area.

You can see how the skirt seems to "move" with the pose.

I use dynamic cloth almost exclusively- there are several examples in my gallery. This example uses the cloth room for a non-clothing item (starting from a primitive sphere)

Maybe it's interesting to share some perhaps not very usual ways of using the cloth room. These are not clothes, so maybe not interesting for the topic at hand, but nevertheless, my two cents for showing that the cloth room can be used for a lot of things.

Clothifying a cube:

Using choreograph group to make a cloth go up and adjust to a model:

Hi ArtPearl, and Rutra,

Thank you very much.
They are excellent applications of  dynamic clothes.

I am very much interested in your ideas of using non-clothing items.
We may be able to develop many more interesting applications.

Dynamic clothing is really wonderful.
It works !
It may be one of the best tools in Poser.

Acadia ( ) posted Sun, 17 June 2007 at 6:51 PM

Wonderful. Seems like you have the cloth room down to an art.

Something small like that poke through can be easily fixed in post work by cloning some nearby colour over the area. I do that kind of thing all of the time.  Or in this case because the skirt is long, you can make the part of the body that is showing through invisible before you render it.

Thank you Acadia.

I did another cloth Room simulation experiment.

A Ball, a Hi-Res Square, and a Torus were used for the simulation.
I am happy with the result.
However, the interaction part of the torus, and the Hi-Res Square is not smooth.

I used the default parameters of Cloth Room for the simulation.
Does anyone have any idea to improve it?

Two more!

The one embedded proves that svdl's great dynamic blouse freebie can easily be scaled to fit Apollo...even when morphed to extremes (hence BJ's Orc). If you wanted shorter sleeves you could easily cut them off with the grouping tool. I kinda like the long sleeves for this image though.

This gallery entry again shows svdl's blouse. The texture is my own node hack-job :).

Very nice image!
The DC is working nicely.
Did you modify the position of buttons ?
I like the pants too.

The texture of your gallery picture is very nice !

ClawShrimp ( ) posted Mon, 25 June 2007 at 6:57 PM

Thanks KFG.

Nope, I didn't modify the position of buttons. I just scaled the width and depth of the blouse and grew Apollo into it during the cloth simulation (which I find works better for relativley snug clothing). After the simulation I universally scaled the blouse down by a couple percent, which I always do as the cloth room leaves a gap between clothing and figure.

The pants are included in one of the Apollo clothing packs, just a bit of scaling and dial spinning to get them looking more bootleg. The boots are included in the same clothing pack (I think). The textures on both are freebies from HorseFeathers (April), and the shirt texture is a VERY simple node setup.

I just realised - That makes everything in the image free!
Apollo (Anton)
Pants (Anton)
Boots (Anton)
Orc morph (BJ)
Blouse/Shirt (svdl)

If anyone would like links to any of these great freebies, just ask.

ArtPearl ( ) posted Tue, 26 June 2007 at 12:38 PM

Did you change  the 'open buton' morph to 1 in frame 1 but ALSO change it back to 0 in step 2 of the simulation? Also I had some problems when the colision offset/depth(recomended 0.2 I think) were too high but I'm not sure that would explain your problem.

 Thank you for your response.

I changed the 'open buton' morph to 1 in frame 1 but I did not change it back to 0.
I used the default parameters.

I was wondering if other people had similar problems.
It happened when I changed some ( not all) of the 'open buton' morph to 1.

ClawShrimp ( ) posted Tue, 26 June 2007 at 9:40 PM

I haven't had this problem, but I've only used the blouse three times thus far.

I wish I had something more useful to tell you. Sorry :(.

What I meant was you should change it back to 0 in step 2. These are the instructions svdl gave. I had a similar but not exactly the same problem (i had all buttons open and the lowest did strange things) . See the thread in the link how it looked and what svdl had to say about it.

Thank you ClawShrimp.

Thank you ArtPearl for the information.

I am sorry.
The third button ( which shifted to right hand side ) was closed ( I did not change it).

Also, in my case, when I opened all buttons (without changing them back to 0 in step2),
it was working nicely as shown in
http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=1461541

It is strange ?

KFG ( ) posted Wed, 27 June 2007 at 12:08 AM

Probably, it was only my problem.

The third button is supposed to be closed.
However, her breast was larger than normal one,
so that it was opened, and the button was shifted to the left.

ClawShrimp did not have this problem, because Apollo’s breast was not too big.

Is my guess right?

ClawShrimp ( ) posted Wed, 27 June 2007 at 12:25 AM

You may be, although the Orc has some pretty decent pecs :).

Although I didn't have this problem with my V4 morph which is reasonably well endowed.

Both make use of the 'choreographed groups'  feature which I just got the hang of. "inside out" is also an example of doing a cloth room simulation in stages, one simulation after the other rather than set it all up in advance in one long (sometimes unpredictable) simulation.
