Subject: Request For All Of Us Daz People

3Dillusions ( ) posted Mon, 18 June 2007 at 9:46 PM · edited Mon, 02 December 2024 at 1:20 AM

While I buy heaps of stuff here, what gets my goat is seeing products taht say not for Daz Studio,  and yet the Daz Models are from Daz.

Dont get me wrong we can all use Products from Poser 4+, but there are lots of people that will not buy Poser 6 products and above becasue they feel they will not work, this is wrong.  Anything made for the material room, will not this is a fact but say for instance a DM Productions product for Poser 6+  will.  Thanks Guys you are champions.

What I would love is for more Poser 4+ made content, not just made for one version of Poser.
Leaves out the rest of us that cannot afford to upgrade, like us Aussie that get ripped off on Software Pricing, you have to see the prices to believe it.

Merchants should not have to go out of their way to make DS Mats for products, this is not what I am saying, but please add more Poser 4+ and this way all of us will be happy.

End of Daz Studio Rant thanks so much, lol.

your aussie? yay! welcome to my side of the world .... the software prices are unbelievable i can back that up!...

my products are all for Poser 4+ and they can be used in D|S - but with textures that i make for the clothes products out there - i use the material room nodes so D|S is not supported or Poser 4 only because of the nodes used...and i think i say that in my promos - not sure.... cant remember lol...

Hi

Yes I think I have one of you products works great in DS, thanks for the nodes info :)

Unicornst ( ) posted Tue, 19 June 2007 at 11:07 AM

**Simple fact of this is that a lot of vendors don't have Studio and if they can't test it in Studio, then they can't offer support in Studio. It's a rule, is all. But you're right...most items made for any version of Poser will work in Studio as well. I know I test all of mine is Studio, with the exception of of V4 products. Mainly because I don't have the latest version of Studio and V4 requires that. That's why the one character I have for her states which version is needed. I had her tested by someone who uses the newest version. But the majority of my items are for P4+ and Studio. I LOVE Studio! When the newest version doesn't have quite as many kinks in it, I'll update.

Hey there Sharyn! Gorgeous girl in your avatar!**

3Dillusions ( ) posted Tue, 19 June 2007 at 6:05 PM

Okay thanks, I have the latest version of Studio and have V4 and V4.1 both work great so far I have thrown everythnig at the program and it is much faster than the last version there have been two updates with this version, you might find it the best one yet.

I have the latest DS too. But I never remember to test my products in it for some reason. Lately I've been mostly working on finishing my P7 G2 textures but I'm thinking of doing more V3, M3, V2 and M2 characters for Poser Pro as well. Just don't know if there is still enough of a market for them. Oh, BTW, Seth M3 is a great character too. Hmmm, maybe if I can steal a little time for it I'll put him in an image with Bessie or BirKitta. :)

Look at my gallery, you will see M3, David, V3 and Aiko Galore, not all of us can afford Poser 7, as I live in australia the software prices are outrageous, hence the started with the free Daz Studio, lots of others are in the same boat as me.

While I buys heaps of content here others dont but they do stick to the Millenium crew.

And Chris Yes I will let you know plan to use you new twins hair texture  tonight, but so far the ones I have  work great :)

Unicornst, posted him with BirKitta and here is the image link... http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=1465716 I'm now working on a V3 texture and character. I'll make it compatible for Poser Pro, Ds and P7.

Poser software pricing was terrible in Europe too a little while back, but that changed with ef and content paradise. Now, as far as I know, content paradise's prices for Poser (full and upgrade) are consistent worldwide (at least, there's only one price in USD listed - 129.99 upgrade and 249.99 full  - the only additional cost for me was an EU sales tax). If you're being asked to pay more for any reason other than maybe an unfavourable exchange rate, that's just appalling.

Faery_Light ( ) posted Fri, 22 June 2007 at 1:02 AM

Angela, The items in my store here should work in DS. They were all created in Poser Pro. And if you look in my freestuff, you'll find items that will also work in DS as they were made in Pro or P4 as well. I slipped and fell on my Butt tonight, hurt my tailbone and it's got me sick so work is at a slowdown for a bit. But I soon will do some moe stuff. And I'll look to see if I have some stuff finished thst I can maybe put in freestuff too. :)

I did that years ago and actually bent that tailbone, it hurt for about 6 months, VBG.
Get better soon and dont sit down to quickly like I did and then it takes longer to get better.

**Thank you for the link, BE. Really great image. Loved it.

Hope that tailbone is doing better by now. Sounds like it's no fun at all. :(**

Faery_Light ( ) posted Tue, 03 July 2007 at 8:53 PM

Hi; The tailbone is better but I got hit with something else, like a huge, monsterous migraine and it's been going almost a week. So my work on my new V3 has slowed down, but I haven't forgotten. When I iron out a few more things I'll see if I can get some testers, for all Poser from Pro and up as well as DS. I'll post in the Product and Showcase forum when I'm ready for testers. :)

Glad to hear about the tailbone. Hate to hear about the migraine. You have a prescription for those?

No prescriptions, too many allergies.

Faery_Light ( ) posted Mon, 23 July 2007 at 11:04 PM

She's just about finished, just need to zip the package, send to testers and do some promo shots. You can see another image of her in the thread in this forum "Don't forget V3". I've just lost three days of working on my products due to that old demon "Migraine Headache" and still weak from it but hopefully I'll get it done soon.

Thank you Unicornst. :) Have a peek at who is getting ready to join Aunt Hattie...Uncle Bill. I'm trying to put some finishing touches on the texture set and finish his morphs. He will have two morph options, 1 slender and 1 heavyset. Two head texture options, one bald and one with a hair tex made on the map.

I haven't forgotten about this project. V3 is nearly finished and I'm two thirds done on M3. Both will be compatible for Poser Pro up and Daz Studio as well. Just having to go slower lately. I've got several projects going but think I'm going to make a call for help on some, mostly my G2 work...sigh. Seems I tire out so easily lately.

To be honest, most the stuff I make probally DOES work in Daz|S but I haven't tested it, so since it is untested one cannot say it is for DAZ. I tried Daz|S when it was first released and just never grew interested in the program. So I often overlook whether or not items will work.

Maybe Ill start testing them just to see

I just downloaded and tried the latest version of DS.

So far I like it.

It's ability to import PZ3 files is great.   Getting used to the new interface will take me awhile but my products work there just fine.

Well, the M3, V3 and V4, that is.
So now I'm going to catch up on my ebots and then finish my M3 guy so I can ready him and Aunt hattie for market. 😄

Natolii ( ) posted Wed, 08 August 2007 at 11:50 AM

The difference is products using Poser Shading nodes as opposed to Texture files. Daz Studio cannot read Mt5 or MT6 files. That's where suppose issues come in.

Also Daz Studio came onto the scene after Poser. Another issue is that Daz does not have access to the Poser SDK.

In the end, it is the choice of the merchant is they want to do the extra work needed to make the product D|S compatible. It is not as easy as it sounds.

Faery_Light ( ) posted Wed, 08 August 2007 at 12:26 PM

Yes, that is one drawback.

But on my Mil characters I make the MAT pose files in Poser  Pro so they are compatible for DS as well.

And then I use P7 to create shaders or material collections for the material room

I don't mind the extra work because I usually use P7 for my own images and create the material files anyway. :)

Unicornst ( ) posted Wed, 08 August 2007 at 12:37 PM

I'm having one tough problem with using MPE and getting it to work on V4.1 in P5. It leaves the default areas that aren't changed as well as nodes used. Can't find the solution to getting it to drop her default textures and nodes. Plus, it won't connect the bump maps even though it does load them.

Natolii ( ) posted Wed, 08 August 2007 at 12:44 PM

There were upgrades to the Shader Nodes between Poser 5 and 6. V4.1 works fine in 6+, but there will be issues with P5.

Let me see if I can dig a few things up

Unicornst ( ) posted Wed, 08 August 2007 at 1:00 PM

**It's not so much her working, sionce she does work, but getting P5 to take the instructions that are set up in the MAT pose.

I use MatPoseEdit to make them and it usually does a great job. Except when it comes to P5 and default nodes and textures that are not there.

For example.... V4.1 eyes have a default map on the cornea for diffuse. (Why I have no idea). I don't use a texture map on the corneas. Only a reflection. In Studio, that default texture is removed and replaced with nothing when I click the MAT pose. (Which is how it should be) P5 leaves the default texture, but does add my reflection. It also leaves her default antoscoptic (SP?) node which I do not have on her. Plus, while P5 will load the bump textures, it will not have them connected.

These are the problems I'm having. Makes my character look far different from what I want her to look like. Not to mention, I really don't want to have her default stuff on there.**

Unicornst ( ) posted Wed, 08 August 2007 at 7:10 PM

**Natolii,

I have the problem solved with the MAT poses I was trying to make. Should have thought of it sooner. I had this utility bought for me called QuickMAT that worked perfectly for making the pz2. Now I can get on with  my character. And she'll be for all versions of Poser as well as Studio.

Just an update on my V3. She has been submitted to one market place and if there are no problems, she'll be submitted here as well. On my M3... put him into EZseam checker and found a couple of seams I need to correct and then he'll be ready to zip znd send. Would anyone be interested in a fantasy set for M3/V3? I have a set finished except for correcting neck seams. Due to the nature of this texture, it is hard to correct but I'll get it soon. :) They are morphed to look less human in the face but have human type bodies. The skin is reptile-like. Groan I have sooo many projects that need finishing...sigh.

3Dillusions ( ) posted Wed, 15 August 2007 at 6:54 PM

Thats fabulous, sometimes I even use the DS mats myself, but most times I find the poser ones work perfectly in Daz Studio, the trick is to no put any of the psoer material in Daz Studio, most will not show up.

But give it poser folders to point too and its beautiful, I even use Poser 6 stuff now the only things I find that do not work for me are Materials, but then I have that surface tool and can texture myself if I need too,  lol.

Faery_Light ( ) posted Wed, 15 August 2007 at 10:41 PM

yes, that's why for my latest sets I'm doing regular Poser Pro MAT files and a separate material set for P5 and up.

Maybe when I've got all my Poser sets finished I'll try to see if I can do some DS sets. :)

Aunt Hattie will be ready very soon now so keep a look out for this gal too. BG
