Subject: Poser 7 Render Problem - blank screen

Svenski ( ) posted Sun, 24 June 2007 at 9:29 AM · edited Thu, 01 August 2024 at 6:56 AM

I purchased an interior set yesterday from Renderosity which states Poser 5/6 minimum required.

I can use individual props from the set and they render correctly however if I load the base structure - the walls, floors etc , then as soon as I try a render all I get is a blank screen - this might be black, brown...whatever.

I've tried turning on/off render options in firefly and the poser 4 render engine but doesn't make any difference apart from I get a blank screen rendered much quicker or slower than before!

I can do a sketch render and a preview render no problem ?

Everything else I've downloaded / purchased seems to be working fine .

I've dabbled with increasing bucket sizes, running a render as a separate process, etc but to no avail.

I've got 2gb of ram and running an Nvidia 5700 graphics card. I've updated Poser to SR2 .

Does anyone know what the problem could be?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks .

Sounds like your camera is in a wall, often happens with this type of scene. Looks ok on preview but render it and you just get black!
Try moving your camera in a few steps and see if that works!

Agreed. I do lots of architectural render, and this sort of things happens quite often. And not just in Poser

Sounds like the lights are blocked by set pieces - no lights - no render.

Thanks guys for the quick responses. I feel like a right plonker now.

I updated my card drivers just in case however it was a camera issue which I never really thought about before :(

If I go with the main camera without any adjustments it doesn't seem to matter how I position the scene, all I get is a render of what must be a wall .

Switching to the dolly cam, for example, works a treat.

I'll play around some more. Thanks again.

Try to adjust "hither" (camera parameter).

Sounds likely to me that you have the scene lit with one or more Infinite lights, with shadows turned on - so the walls block your lights as seattletim suggests.  Pick a light, and disable shadows in Parameter Dials -> Properties for that light, and try a render.  If you suddenly get light in the scene, that's the problem.
