Subject: Millennium Dynamic Deformers will they work on V4

rowlando ( ) posted Fri, 22 June 2007 at 10:32 PM · edited Fri, 31 January 2025 at 2:44 AM

Just thinking of buying them, can anyone tell me the limitations and if worth the investment please.

Thanks Rowlando

they were made for V3, not v4, and most likely will only work somewhat

worst case, get them from daz, and see if they work on v4 to your liking.. if not return them within the 30 days fo ra refund

Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.

Casette ( ) posted Sat, 23 June 2007 at 2:58 AM

I have them and never I though in trying on V4. I'll test it

OK Casette, thanks just wonder if they could be more useful to me if applied to V4

They won't work properly with V4, mostly because she is grouped differently than the Millennium 3 figures.

For instance, V4's breasts are part of her chest, whereas V3's are part of the Collar group. Also, they use a setup injecter that has to be applied before the magnets will actually do anything, and there isn't one for V4.

Hello!  I would just like to say that Universal Magic Mags (by me, shameless plug) work wonderfully on V4.  -WTB/Greg

Will the Universal Magic Mags work on Apollo or the G2 figures?

Photopium ( ) posted Sat, 23 June 2007 at 6:21 PM

I'm not 100% sure, to be honest, but there's no reason why they shouldn't.  So long as all body parts have standard names, they will work.  And they can be missing some, for example the buttocks, and the mags will just ignore them and continue to do what they're supposed to.  I've been good about adding support for non-standard body parts, usually on an individual request basis.  It usually just involves me carving out a pz2 file to apply so non-standard parts are represented, and only takes a few minutes to make/send.  -WTB

Cool. They've been in and out of my cart so many times, I guess I'll take the plunge now. Thanks!

This issue comes up a lot lately, since Poser 6.  When you load them, the sphere of influence will show up briefly, then disappear.  This is due to the new "feature" of Poser to be able to hide all deformers, show only currently selected, or show all deformers from the view menu.  The setting will override visibility of the sphere, because the default setting is "show only currently selected."  It is not helpful to "show all" because there are a million other spheres that you don't need to see, along with the magnets and bases.

So, included in the utility folder of UMM is a pz2 to turn individual magnet sets visibility (on or off)  Use those and you'll succeed.

Hello BTW

From the product review, seems you have face shape magnets etc.

Will your system work on clothing.

Would your system work on the V4 to V3 body shape which comes with the base V4.

Many people would love to be able to creat their favourite body shape on the V4 to V3 body and then be able to fit their V3 cloths on.

I have used the netherworks magnets on the body shape but it has limitations and difficult to make V3 clothing fit.

Your feed back is welcome.

Thanks Rowlando

It works on clothing in two ways...

First, you can use the clothing pz2's to apply the magnets to match the morphs you're creating in a figure.

Second, you can apply the magnets to clothing as if they were a figure, so long as they have standard body part names, and morph just the clothing.

You asked if the V4/V3 figure will work...absolutely.  Any figure with standard body part names, even animals (though not all parts in animals, like tail and wings)

Hence the name..."Universal"  :)

WTB/Greg--

I tried the universal mags on Sydney. They work on corresponding parts, however, the G2 females have an additional waist group below the abdomen and while they do have left and right collars, they also have rbreast and lbreast.

kalon ( ) posted Sun, 24 June 2007 at 9:33 AM

The G2 males also have the Waist part, but not the rbreast / lbreast

okay, I will get to work on this for you.  Might take a little longer than normal, I don't have G2 figs.

PS  send me an email to gboycott1@comcast.net so I can send you the zip when it's done

Update - G2 characters are P7 characters, duh...goes to show how much I use them.

Okay, Sydney's Breast Groups are ghost joints, and have no geometry.  No adjustments or hacks to UMM's are necessary for that part of the body, just pin to collars as with any other character.

As for the waist, this should be an easy fix, looking into it now.

Photopium ( ) posted Sun, 24 June 2007 at 11:16 AM

Update2 - G2 support is now full with waist zone added to pin poses.  Awaiting your email, and I will send along a zip which contains g2 support for mag sets 1-5.  In the zip is a pins folder, just drop it over the other one and it will overwrite the 5 pz2's with the shiny-new good ones.  -WTB/Greg

rowlando ( ) posted Sun, 24 June 2007 at 8:07 PM

Hello WTB, Kalon & Hawk999

Could you give me the links to the specific art work you have created using the universal mags so I can check it out.

Thanks Rowlando

I just got it yesterday. Other than making sure I could morph something, and checking out how they would work on Sydney, I haven't made anything with them yet.

Attached Link: six pack

rowlando - Any pic in my gallery contains modifications that were made using UMM.  They are very subjective, and don't provide "stock" deformations.

That said, this image "Six Pack" shows UMM on V3 on the thighs, hips and breasts along with deforming the top at the same time.

Hi, the g2 support for mag sets 1-5 Thanks

Photopium ( ) posted Mon, 25 June 2007 at 12:03 AM

Hawk, send me an email to the above address and I will send along that update.  AS for doing it in the store...hmmm, 10 day queue, constantly changing guidelines...for the moment I prefer to keep it on a request basis.  For the record, nobody, until this thread, has asked for such support which makes me believe the figures aren't particularly popular (I myself don't use them, and as I go, so goeth my nation...)

The zip is ready when you are
