Can anyone tell me, where I can buy Tamela J's stuff? She isn't here at Renderosity anymore.

Thanks
Werun

Miss Nancy ( ) posted Tue, 26 June 2007 at 2:33 PM

probly at 3dcommune. I had been receiving their newsletter for some time, but actually just started reading it in the wake of the contretemps.

werun ( ) posted Tue, 26 June 2007 at 2:58 PM

Thank you, but I didn't find her there. Perhaps someone knows where.

Well, I didn't know about all that trouble and because my English is not perfect, I don't understand all the comments on that two links from nruddock. So I think I give it up to find her. Thank you for your answers and have a nice week,

Werun

j_g ( ) posted Tue, 26 June 2007 at 4:45 PM

You could try to have TamelaJ find you. I think you just have to make a merchant texture resource, and then sell it.

Ardiva ( ) posted Tue, 26 June 2007 at 5:17 PM

She isn't even listed under "3D Unforgettables" anymore there.

nruddock ( ) posted Tue, 26 June 2007 at 5:59 PM

There's still one item in her store there (won't link).

Miss Nancy ( ) posted Tue, 26 June 2007 at 6:54 PM

in my experience here, they always come back, under another name. they just can't stay away for long.

Ardiva ( ) posted Tue, 26 June 2007 at 7:16 PM · edited Tue, 26 June 2007 at 7:16 PM

There is only a banner of hers there...no products connected to it.

Morgano ( ) posted Tue, 26 June 2007 at 8:11 PM

Tamelaj isn't another Darkwing-Zero, so can people stop pretending that she is, please?.   Her character textures for V3 are among the very best there are.    Her allegations may have been injudicious, but that does not make her products bad.    Nobody has yet produced a texture for V4 that compares with the best  (or, let's be honest, with the second-best) of Tamelaj's for V3.    The best G2 and Miki2 textures are miles ahead of the standard V4 stuff.

kayjay97 ( ) posted Wed, 27 June 2007 at 6:38 AM

her Unforgettable Exotic Blossom - Kaori - For Miki102       is still there :-)

Uhm, she's good but so is SteffyZ and Steffy actually does use her own photos, she doesn't buy a ton of resources and then claim she never uses them just to be proven that she does indeed use them.

honestly Steffy and Mec4D were some of the top texture creators for any characters, sadly they don't do so anymore.

I am still hoping we will see something from Stefy for V4 & Miki 2....

Katarina has moved on into the music business IIRC.

Shame really.

Frankly, Danae's Milan for V4 is just as good or even better than any of the 3d Unforgettables (which, on the other hand were always based on thematically on Morris' texture sets).

Maybe she isn't, but her antics are highly questionable, not to mention highly unethical.
What she did to Victorias is beyond fair.

Ardiva ( ) posted Thu, 28 June 2007 at 3:30 PM

BrokenAngel9, I wounldn't exactly say she was "beyond fair"...I would say that she deliberately tried to destroy an innocent merchant to get to another merchant that is innocent as well.

jjroland ( ) posted Thu, 28 June 2007 at 4:38 PM

maybe - beyond disgusting?

What a pity she hasn't published any books, because, if only she she had, you could all stand around in "ethical" circles and make bonfires out of them

MachineClaw ( ) posted Thu, 28 June 2007 at 5:44 PM

why, we can do that here hahaha!

PerfectN ( ) posted Thu, 28 June 2007 at 10:24 PM

I believe Tamela is at DAZ.
As for skin textures I've always loved Morris and Danae' Millan is a good texture - just a little weak in the makeup dept (for my tastes anyway).
Im not aware of the issues between Morris and Tamela  - other than Tamela always telling me that Morris uses her textures.
Would someone care to elaborate?

dasquid ( ) posted Thu, 28 June 2007 at 11:16 PM

Um Tamela really seems like a whack job to me I would not pay attention to anything she says or claims .........at this point I would have a hard time believeing her if she said the sky is blue.

j_g ( ) posted Thu, 28 June 2007 at 11:21 PM

But what if she said that, when you look up at the sky, you're seeing a texture that was stolen from her?

.*Is it sad to say that would not shock me at all?  I mean-  hey that guy (God,w/e) had super duper access to all her stuff.  Apparently he has no 35,000$ camera to take his own photos.

Charles_V ( ) posted Thu, 28 June 2007 at 11:46 PM

Alright,

The original poster's question is more or less answered.  Can we stop this from turning into a hate fest?

Yes, Tamela did something the community didn't appreciate, but what does rehashing it, or calling someone a wack job accomplish?

Absolutely nothing.

I know. But I did have a problem yesterday when I wrote that post, the right words just didn't come to mind.
"Beyond fair" is  like the understatement of the month I'm afraid... ;)

PerfectN ( ) posted Fri, 29 June 2007 at 12:04 PM

Wow - these are some pretty harsh statements (even for me) - when did this all start? And what started it?

Miss Nancy ( ) posted Fri, 29 June 2007 at 12:15 PM

this started with a thread in copyright forum initiated by tamela. that and a related thread were locked, for the same reasons this one will be IMVHO.

Rainfeather ( ) posted Fri, 29 June 2007 at 1:13 PM

sheesh, PerfectN where have you been?! i thought i was the last person to have heard of the whole drama that went on. pity i wasn't around, i have a few words to impart as well but ah well, as they say "if you snooze, you lose" lol.

icprncss2 ( ) posted Fri, 29 June 2007 at 1:17 PM

To my knowledge, Tamela isn't at DAZ.  If she is, she's using another name.

PerfectN ( ) posted Fri, 29 June 2007 at 2:08 PM

No, its true, Tamela isn't at daz - my mistake. I could have sworn I saw her stuff somewhere else. Maybe 3d commune then.
At any rate, Im really curious as to what happend...

jjroland ( ) posted Fri, 29 June 2007 at 2:18 PM

Like Miss Nancy said - check out the copyright forum you can read all 50+ pages of it.

Khai ( ) posted Fri, 29 June 2007 at 2:23 PM

potted version:

Merchant A accused Merchant B of stealing images off them. When Merchant B provided all the evidence they were asked for and Merchant A did nothing to back up their claims, Merchant A then accused Merchant C & D (and maybe E) of stealing images off them. When Merchants C, D (and maybe E) provided signed paperwork that the images belonged to them, Merchant A imploded and withdrew, issuing a false apology and maintaining they were right all along. Drawn into this drama were several sites and forums, one of which suffered a lot of damage to it's reputation.

I think that covers it and stays in the TOS ;)

Jumpstartme2 ( ) posted Fri, 29 June 2007 at 3:27 PM

cracks up laffin' @ Vince

Sorry about the stuck jelly bits, but maybe it could have been avoided if you hadn't gotten so excited and jumped around so much

And yup,  I have some strawberry saved..and some new peach that Im going to try out one day

Welcome to Renderosity and the Poser community! We have a thread like that once or twice a year! You should have seen the last one! :m_laugh: You're going to find a lot of folks with BPD and a full range of other personality quirks in the artistic community. Artists tend to be sensitive and sensitivities lend  themselves to loads of hurt feelings all around. I'm probably a bit BPD myself at times. Recognising that about myself is half the solution to getting better. IMHO.

kalon ( ) posted Thu, 05 July 2007 at 8:38 AM · edited Thu, 05 July 2007 at 8:38 AM

@ 3dsmacker

There's no profit in it. As Lostinspaceman mentioned, these meltdowns occur with some regularity. The more energetic episode's have spawned new Poser websites... Sort of like cell subdivision.
