Subject: Firefly tutorials please.

Hi all !
Been away from Poser since the transition from P4 to P5 in favour of in-depth studies of other graphics applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator etc.
So, now back with Poser I'm facing P7 (SR 2) and there have sure been a lot of progress in versions 5,6 and 7 that makes me feel very much behind in technology and how to put it to best use. Been trying to catch up with as much as possible, but there are some things I find quite confusing ...
Mainly it's the Firefly renderer that creates serious wrinkles in my forehead when trying to get my head around it. The manual feels - to say the least - a bit too shallow and general in its descriptions of how the various controls work an what they do.
So - thus I'm turning to this forum with a cry for a bit of help in this matter, hoping to get some pointers to better descriptions and - preferrably - good (case scenario) tutorials.
I've had a look at this forums Poser FAQ and searched the threads and archives and found some good value, but - you know - there can never be enough knowledge ...

Thank you all in advance for assitance !

Firefly's controls are similar to Renderman. The explanations are a bit technical.

replicand - Thanks for the links, very good technical explanations.

Agree with stormchaser. Thank you replicand for links to informative technical explanaitions. I appreciate it very much.
Been looking into the matter at similar places and it seems the acute problem with Poser still remains with stability. Much functionallity have been added indeed, but the mayor issues following along through the versions, causing unexpected crashes and what not still remain unattended or not solved, leaving the problem of not knowing wether the functionality will actually perform through or not.  Unfortunately, it seems too be something a Poser user will have to learn to live with and counteract for ...

But thank you ones again, replicand, for your help !!   :)

I hope the links can be useful. I believe that render efficiency can be increased if you "cater to the renderer" and I have been studying Renderman to get a better idea of how to use Firefly. As you mention there are some...idiosyncracies that Poser has that make it almost unusable (just recently adding multiple undos, scene translation to the renderer which takes forever) but I've seen people do really great things with it.

Stewer has some great notes and FAQs about Firefly rendering on his site.

Thank you very much, Karen1573 !

I already found the "Firefly render options"-page on his site via Google.

But, I seem to have missed to check out any further info on his site, as the one you are recommending here, so thank you very much for your pointer.
