...and a chance to win ten more of your choice.

Read an interview with the Vanishing Point team and Jose De Espona in the latest issue of 3rd Dimension Magazine- a free PDF e-magazine, aimed at Poser users.

In collaboration with 3rd Dimension Magazine and De Espona, we are running a contest... and offering a De Espona model for free. Download the latest issue of the magazine and read all the details.

What is the mystery freebie? Here's a hint: it's a De Espona model and it's for use in Poser. lol

Read the magazine and find out! :)

don't quote me on this, but I think they want ya to post contest announcements in the contest forum. is the freebie the rat? I recall he had a free rat at the 'squid back in the 90s. then he split off from reyes infografica for some reason, and the latter tried (unsuccessfully) to patent some kind of poser cloth system that conflicted with poser's cloth room and one of phil c's products.

Well I downloaded the pdf three times, and can't open it for some reason. I keep getting an error saying file not found please check the correct file path blah blah blah.

Anyone else having this problem?

Jumpstartme2 ( ) posted Mon, 16 July 2007 at 10:10 PM

Sometimes you need to restart your computer to get it to read some of the things you want to do.  Othertimes, you need to put it in the right file location.  Experiment with things.  Yeah?

In order to go forward, one must often times look to the past.

Helgard ( ) posted Tue, 17 July 2007 at 1:17 AM

Miss Nancy, it's not really a contest announcement, you can download the magazine, which is free, and the freebie model, which is also free. You don't have to enter any competition to get the freebies, so therefore, ergo sum, blah blah, (insert a few more intelligent sounding Latin words, lol), I think it should be OK to post this in the freebie forum. :-)

Lord_syphex - I've seen this with other .PDF files.

The trick is to close the PDF reader 1st - sometimes you have follow angels advice and restart.

Check the filesize against the one shown on the page. If the downloaded one is seriously smaller - delete it and download again. This one is 12.5mb.

The .PDF from 3rd dimension doesn't have any fancy bits, as found with some 6&7.PDF files and loaded into into Adobe Acrobat Reader 5 OK.

It does load 2 pages across which is different from some .PDF's, maybe thats what confusing your reader. Try the reader from adobe.

If you are still stuck after this - post a message here and if it's OK with the VP guys I'll post the rules in this thread.

Pinky - you left the lens cap of your mind on again.

oh, I see - it's the free guinea pig. o.k., thx fr the info.

Helgard ( ) posted Tue, 17 July 2007 at 4:08 PM

Free Guinea Pig? No, it isn't, it's a boat.

Now thats a well camoflagued guinea pig :)

Just kidding - the actual giveway for this contest is a boat: Sail Dock Ship San Juan (for Poser)
If you click the link in the .PDF theres a missing character the correct link for the giveway is as WRITTEN. Or try the link above.

Well I still can't get the .pdf to open. When I download it, for some reason only 6k of it downloads. Never mind I give up.

mrsparky ( ) posted Tue, 17 July 2007 at 4:45 PM

Lord Syphex...sending you an IM.

If that doesn't help try the link above. That will allow you to get the free model and enter the contest rules. I'll also get the VP admins to let 3drd Dimension to know theres a problem with the download.

Miss Nancy ( ) posted Tue, 17 July 2007 at 5:19 PM

o.k., thanks for the link, mr. s. very nice ship IMVHO!

JHoagland ( ) posted Tue, 17 July 2007 at 5:44 PM

Now I'm confused. What does a rat or Turbo Squid or reyes have to do with the latest free issue of 3rd Dimension magazine or us giving away a free De Espona ship for use in a contest?

Miss Nancy ( ) posted Tue, 17 July 2007 at 6:09 PM

nothing. your confusion is understandable.

vilian ( ) posted Wed, 18 July 2007 at 3:24 AM

Grabbed the ship yesterday and I'm going to enter the competition as soon as possible. Thank you for awesome gift! I have one question though - it's the ship that pic has to be foucused on, right? So how to add any crew, pirates, captain to it so that the focus was still on the ship, not the people and my pic wasn't disqualified? ^^'

Helgard ( ) posted Wed, 18 July 2007 at 6:46 AM

You don't have to use the ship, any model from De Espona is allowed for the competition. We just gave away the ship so that everyone could enter without being forced to buy something.

The main thing is we want to see good art using De Espona models. As long as we can see the model, nothing will be disqualified.

Thanks to VanishingPoint, De Espona, & JHoagland for the great model!! And thank you Helgard for letting us know about it.

P.S.
JHoagland, I love your R2 models. Attached is a small pic I did in Vue6PLE.

Thanks there Joe-B-Wan :)

If you want some more VP goodies for nothing: the Lycantar Alternating Robot  (as pictured above) is free with the latest issue of 3dworld (number 94).

This model is the 1st ever animal-to-robot transformable Poser figure, and was chosen as it matches the Transformers theme in the magazine.

The mag is £6 (I don't know how much in the US) in the UKP and the model is worth £5 ($10), and theres other 3d stuff from RNDA & CP, so it's well worth a buy.

Thanks MrSparky
I actually picked up issue 92 last weekend. (we're a little behind here in 'the colonies")
Here the magazin goes for $16, so I guess that's not TOO big of a mark-up from the UK price.
I'll keep my eye out for the Lycantor.

thanks, lovely ship :)

Twelve days left to get your pictures in for the competition. Still wide open for a winner at this point.
