Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 29 1:45 am)
just to confirm - IBL can be used with ray-traced shadows, if one wants to avoid AO and speed things up. poser turns off shadows on me, as well, when changing from a directional lite to an IBL. as mentioned, this is likely due to the coders' belief that one should use AO with IBL, and not shadows, perhaps in regard to users' inability to understand shadowlite cams, map size, et al. displacement bounds seem to change at random. I don't know if render settings for DB over-ride object properties DB, but it's the object properties DB that change.
click on the camera drop-down list, then see if there's only 1 shadowlite cam. in my case, they get renumbered for some reason, hence I hafta guess which one is right. then click on one of the camera controls on the left, and the shadowcam parameters will appear on the right. depending on version, there will be a dial for "zoom" or "scale". decrease the number on the dial to zoom in. adjust x and y values to keep the object centred.

I have a single poly plane as a sea. When i set the Displacement Bounds, Poser randomly changes the setting.
I have a light set consisting of an IBL with shadows on and a Spec only light. When I save the light set then reload it, the IBL shadows are turned off.
Also my preview settings never save Hardware Shading checked. What is the problem? I have enough to do without having to reset every parameter each time I use the program.
Why?
